Hi, ladies welcome to Episode one of theperiod.podcast. This is my very first episode, so it will be more of an introduction of me telling you all how and why I am here, how I got here on this journey. This first episode is just what it is, my first episode, yayyyyyy I'm so excited. However, that means that I am true to this but I am new to this lol. So, this first episode is not perfect, it cuts off at the end because I am not savvy with editing yet and I am still learning so be patient with me. I will have the very next episode pick up at exactly where I left off. I could have done the entire episode over, but I did not want to risk giving you all perfection over authenticity, so here we are, let's go! I want to first of all give you my disclaimer that is I am not a doctor, medical professional, health expert or health guru. I am also not here to offer medical advice. What I am here to do is share my journey of what I have and am experiencing which are heavy and painful periods that are not normal, a recent diagnosis of fibroids, and iron deficiency anemia as a result of fibroids and heavy menstrual cycles. I want to share my journey with you and be transparent in what I have learned and am learning along the way. My mission is to bring more awareness to a topic that is affecting so many women but particularly the women that I am a representation of, black women. My intent is to make aware, educate, inform, and spread reliable and contagious information that will be widespread in its effect, find solutions to our problems, and have our voices be heard. I am also here to learn from the women in my community who will be transparent enough to share with me their journeys as well, what they have learned and experienced. This is a conversation about periods, so let's talk about it. Join me every Last Monday of the month @ 7:00 p.m. Join the conversation!
