• Intellectual honesty with Evan Shapiro
    Sep 14 2024

In this episode, I collaborate with Evan Shapiro. Evan is an author, digital content creator, media enthusiast, and accidental Buddhist. On Evan's podcast, No Expert But..., he gives short philosophical commentaries on a range of important topics — it's a format so accessible that it may just convert you to philosophical thinking! Evan also co-hosts the radio program Celluloid Dreams on 2SER (107.3) and discusses film culture.

Here, we discuss the idea of intellectual honesty and how it's possible make perfectly valid arguments for entirely the wrong reasons.

  • Modern therapy blunders with Simon Rinne
    Aug 17 2024

In this episode, I had the pleasure of collaborating with Simon Rinne of Mindful Men. Simon is a registered social worker in Queensland, Australia (and his practice is expanding), who is changing the paradigm of psychotherapy. Simon has lived experience of mental illness and uses this to inform his approach. Instead of forcing his clients to work within the confines of a traditional therapy setting and methodologies, he allows the freedom to choose where and how to conduct appointments. As a result, he brings the humanity in to what was traditionally a rather cold and detached phenomenon. He listens and responds as a real person. Simon also hosts the Mindful Men podcast on which he discusses mental health. We discuss what we believe should change about the psychotherapy paradigms in Australia and what we've found useful in our respective journeys.

  • Critically analysing racism theories with Richa Joshi
    Jul 27 2024

In this episode, I had the pleasure of collaborating with Richa Joshi. Richa owns Dual Nation in Western Australia and provides apparel that shows our pride in our respective heritages as well as our Australian culture. In this same domain, Richa is a life coach specialising in helping ethnically diverse women, and the host of the Same Same But Different podcast, on which she discusses the ideas of race, culture, and ultimately that although we are diverse, we are all human. We discuss the strengths and caveats in applying sociological theories of racism and other forms of oppression, and demonstrate that regardless of our individual evaluations, critical thinking is always worthwhile.
