The Vision is a prayerfully compiled exploration of David Wilkerson's vision about the world and church’s future. In chapter 3, he examines the moral landslide America and much of the western world will face and is already beginning to experience. Three areas of social degradation particularly stand out in his heart-broken exhortation to the church:

• Many Christians' lukewarm obedience

• The rise of the homosexual movement

• Increasing violence and sexuality in entertainment

This chapter is a rousing reminder that the modern church must maintain its adherence to God’s firm and loving instructions for sexual purity. Only God’s grace, the Word’s instructions and a heartfelt pursuit of the Holy Spirit’s presence will keep believers standing beneath society’s pressure to conform.

In chapter 4, conflict between parents and their children becomes David’s focus as he offers insight into some spiritual reasons behind this domestic unrest:

• Young adults reacting against spiritual emptiness
• Many leaders’ hypocrisy leading to a distrust of authority
• Emotional and mental wounds from divorce

For those already suffering from rough family ties, though, there is hope for peace and healing as the cry of many brokenhearted parents and children rise up and God intervenes.

While the American church has received very little persecution historically, David foresees a coming time when believers in the US will no longer be immune, and he discusses some of the following signs:

• The church embraces homosexuality and occult practices

• Major media companies and leaders will mock belief in God

• The government will begin to tax churches and Christian organizations

However, David also predicts that the church will rise in Asia and Eastern Europe, and many Christians there will experience freedom from persecution at long last. God’s Word will spread like fire through those nations at the beginning of a new spiritual awakening.

· Israel will rise as a world power as prophesied in the Bible

· Rampant famines will come along with devastating diseases and pollution

· A war will start in the Middle East, centered around Israel

All of the events from previous chapters are leading to the great tribulation and rise of the antichrist foretold in Revelations, but faithful Christians will recognize that these are signs of God's kingdom coming and take hope in Jesus’ quick return.

· New York City’s bankruptcy and explosion of street violence

· Warning signs of a worldwide economic crisis

· Rampant unemployment and rising energy and fuel costs

This chapter concludes with a caution against praying that America will be spared the tribulation and how we may lean our hearts toward God’s coming kingdom as we pray for the world and our homeland.

The Vision is a prayerfully compiled exploration of David Wilkerson's vision about the world and church’s future. In the wake of 9/11 and the twin towers falling, David points to passages in Isaiah when Israel suffered a terrible attack from their enemies.

- The Israelites questioned if God had abandoned them

- Cultural sin patterns and idolatry went unchecked despite the disaster

- Leaders called on God’s name without actually listening for him

The hypocrisy of many American politicians who eagerly motioned for non-biblical laws then turning around and calling on God’s name in a wave of patriotism is a great danger because it avoids examining what God may be doing with this calamity. David points to how this national tragedy should be a call for repentance and self-examination.
