Why Yes, We're Friends

By: Brendon Wong & Ronnie Sullivan
  • Summary

  • Brendon Wong and Ronnie Sullivan like some rival teams, and that's OK! They're here to talk it out anyway. Join them for conversations that are mostly sporty, but anything goes. Choose adhesive over solvents, tape over knives, cash over cards. Why Yes, We're Friends. Thanks for asking!

Episodes
  • Shakedown 1995; Cool Kids Never Have The Time
    Jan 17 2025

Brendon and Ronnie are feeling their ages because 1995 was 30 years ago. They're looking back at albums that released in 1995, and in this episode they mostly talk about "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" by the Smashing Pumpkins. Along the way, the fellas talk about how music can bond parents and children, make dark horse NFL playoff picks that have already aged poorly, and ask the important question: Do people still say "soda pop?" Brendon introduces Michelada Monday, explains what happened to the 49ers this season, and gives Ronnie a bass guitar. Ronnie tries to make sense of high school football summer practices, and he knows a lot about the Smashing Pumpkins. Seriously... a lot.

  • Saturday Night Live's Celebrity Hot Tub
    Jan 10 2025

Brendon and Ronnie are celebrating the 50th season of Saturday Night Live! They manage to mention some of their favorite skits, casts, music guests, and hosts -- if you're thinking that's too much for one episode, you're right! (Stay tuned.) Along the way, Brendon asks how long we should acknowledge the New Year and remembers when Christopher Walken said the wrong emphasis in Foo Fighters. Ronnie thinks understanding street parking signs in LA counts as a second language and remembers when Eddie Murphy turned gibberish into one of the funniest sketches in SNL's long history.

  • Prediction Speculate-tacular
    Jan 3 2025

Brendon and Ronnie are ushering in the new year by speculating wildly about sports in 2025! Along the way, the fellas trade their favorite instant ramen flavors, discuss the possibility of robot umpires in baseball, and fail to avoid talking about the Stanford Prison Experiment. Brendon predicts that the Giants will play their 19th different Opening Day Left Fielder in the 19 years since Barry Bonds retired, and Ronnie predicts the Giants will step forward with their new front office hire, Buster Posey. Brendon predicts that Mauricio Pochettino will bring U.S. Men's Soccer to play a more European way, while Ronnie predicts that James Gunn will bring Superman back to standing for Truth, Justice, and the American Way. -- OK, so they're not ALL sports predictions...
