We are humbled to have Jose Angel Perez aka Power the Poet on the show today to enlighten us with his life stories– growing up in the foster system, being sent to Rikers, being at Rikers at the same time as his Mom, and how he found poetry as an outlet through all of this. We dig deeper with Jose in a discussion about the different rehabilitation programs offered to incarcerated folks, and where the American carceral system is failing to deliver that rehabilitation. Jose then delivers a reading of one of his poems from his book “Till Ink Meets Paper” that left us all with chills. You’re not going to want to skip this episode!

They enlighten us on what it means to be an auditor, the importance of accountability for public officials, as well as bring us the story of New Years 2025, where they got into a situation with NYPD ending with David being sent to Rikers Island! SHAME on nypd.

They tell us more of their stories from their combined years monitoring the city, Relly and Rudy swap some NYPD stories of their own, and we discuss the intricacies of trying to hold a corrupt organization like the NYPD accountable.

This week we have Relly and Dimez in the studio, bringing you an interview with Jonas and Shemily of Mass Mutual Aid! If you’ve been watching, you know that MASS (Mutual Aid through Scientific Socialism) is a new mutual aid group that started in Kensington Brooklyn a few months ago.

We talk mutual aid with Shem and Jonas, and then our discussion shifts to their organizing in school for Palestine - the student occupation, the demands being made, the retaliation, and the ultimate reality of where we are and what happens next.

Dimez Shemily and Jonas bond over their love of art and fashion and entrepreneurship.

The discussion flowed so well that we got really into it and ended our episode with just a quick run through of some current events.
