• Ep 4: Sustainability
    Jan 21 2022

In the fourth episode of our new podcast, The Future of the Car we’re ducking inside the cockpit to look at the interior trims and fabrics that are making journeys more comfortable, stylish, and environmentally friendly. And to get a better idea of how our general approach to sustainable materials is changing, we dive into the world of high fashion and discover how big catwalk brands are changing their outlook. It turns out the fashion industry is facing many similar issues to the automotive business, and we talk to Alexandra Fullerton, fashion director at large of Glamour UK about some of the solutions they’re coming up with to tackle these issues. We also take a closer at Audi and the engineers that are obsessed with old bottles tops and fishing nets, and we find out how veganism is jumping off our plates and into our hotel rooms. It turns out that sitting on a pineapple, may not be as painful as it first sounds!

  • Ep 3: Infrastructure
    Jan 7 2022

The number of electric vehicles on our streets is soaring, but where do all these cars get their juice? In the third episode of our new podcast, we headed into the Swiss mountains to talk about charging and infrastructure. Switzerland is well-known for its spectacular landscapes, crystalline waterways, and now, a new road trip designed especially for electric cars called the E-Grand Tour. We spoke to Samuel Wille from Switzerland Tourism about the country’s commitment to going electric – and the freedom you experience from being able to charge up your car in the middle of a mountain pass. And we also heard from IONITY’s Network Coordinator Pia Bretschneider, who talked to us about how a network of reliable and fast EV chargers is key to the success of electric vehicles.

  • Ep 2: Automation
    Dec 3 2021

In our second episode, we are focusing on automation and artificial intelligence (AI). It’s a subject that has fascinated humans since the Ancient Greek myths described a god who could bring inanimate objects to life. And today, Hollywood films and their portrayal of robots with human-like features and feelings present a similarly mythical take on artificial intelligence. Of course, Audi is far more interested in using real science to power the autonomous features of its models, and frequently presents concept cars that make full use of AI technology. We spoke to Michael Wooldridge, Oxford University’s Head of Computer Science, about the possibility of cars taking control of the wheel.
