The Dad Tapes

By: Rich & Josh
  • Summary

  • Two guys. Two cousins. Two best friends. Most importantly, two fathers. Both have vastly different experiences, differing backgrounds, points of views, hobbies and careers. With our box of tapes, we're looking to create and educational and vulnerable platform for parents alike, with both hosts sharing stories, experiences and takes on a subject without it coming across like you, the listener, are being coached on "how you're doing this wrong" or "you need to do it how we tell you to do it". Instead, we share our stories in hopes others can gain from them without being told how to interpret what you hear. We're not experts. We're not preaching. We're just discussing one on one with each other growing our own bond in hopes that our growth will allow others to grow too. These are our Dad Tapes.

With the Dad's back in action after a long hiatus, this is the first recording that isn't a holiday special since June of 2024! This week the Dads are drinking a heavy, but tasty, Hazy Double IPA called Goggles with a 8.8% ABV which is brewed by New Trail Brewing Company from Williamsport, PA. Now with a place to rank their beers, via the beer ranking website Untappd.com, where you can always peak in on every beer the Dads have drunk. The show then progresses to the weekly catch-up, where both share their updates over the time since they last recorded with Josh being put out of work -- AGAIN. Meanwhile, Rich talks about a productive December for work and his ranking within the company.

The show then transitions to An Aware Dad, with a reading from 'The Daily Dad', written by Ryan Holiday. Tonight's reading was titled February 3rd, Love Without End. Amen. Be sure to listen to this week's insightful reading. The show then progresses to the topic of the week.

With all of the news on the East Coast about drone sightings and the weird information going around about them, we figure tonight would be a great time to discuss that very topic: aliens, how we feel about the topic and what really is our take on what is happening on the east coast with all of the drones. Join us tonight as this could be a wild one.

After an exchange of some in-depth conversation and questions, the show progresses to their "Shit-uations". Tonight's Shit-uations has Josh reading blurbs from FML.com.

Double down Friday! The second tape this week has the dads drinking an IPA called A-Frame, with a 6.1% ABV, from Last Wave Brewing Co., which is located in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ. Both. dads agree this is a top-tier beer for their rankings. One of the best they've had in a bit. The show then progresses to the weekly catch-up, where Josh talks about a nice, slowed down week and shifting from 5 days. week to 4 days a week. After discussing a round of golf they both agree needs to happen, Rich updates us on his slow yet somehow ironically busy week.

The show then transitions to An Aware Dad, with a reading from 'The Daily Dad', written by Ryan Holiday. Tonight's reading was titled February 1st, There Is No Substitute For Your Love. Be sure to listen to this week's insightful reading. The show then progresses to the topic of the week.

We’ve all heard a saying that kind of represents this: each day is slow and every year is fast. Without consciously thinking about it, we’ve aged to adults and have little ones we now are letting experience the force of time we have gone through. It’s not until big events that we slow down our own perception of time to reflect and enjoy but also worry for the future. That worry stems from the fear of missing more as the days get longer but the years grow shorter. Join us tonight as we discuss the dimension of time and the conscious awareness that we need to find more of – before all of our hairs turn gray or as we like to call them: wisdom highlights.
