  • Summary

  • For three months, APTN News reporter Kathleen Martens interviewed people living in bus shelters, alleyways, parks and Winnipeg’s emergency shelter system. She found people experiencing homelessness were on the streets for a number of reasons, including poverty, addiction and mental health issues. The five-part series called Our Relatives explores the over-representation of Indigenous Peoples in the city's homeless population, who travel from their nations to the “big city” for shelter and a stable life. What they find is much different.

Find out why and hear their stories in a new five-part APTN News podcast called Our Relatives.

Our Relatives debuts on December 1, 2023.
