Misconceptions of self-care have removed the self out of self-care. It is time to rewire our brain on the concept of self-care and classify it as essential.
Physical Self-Care Activities:
1. Eat a healthy meal
2. Engage in exercise
3. Go for a walk
4. Drink water
5. Sit in the sunlight (careful of too much sun!)
Social Self-Care Activities:
1. Call/text a someone
2. Join a book club (or any kind of club!)
3. Food and beverages with friends/family
4. Volunteer somewhere
5. Visit a local farmers market
Emotional Self-Care Activities:
1. Listen to music
2. Read a book
3. Listen to a podcast
4. Reflect on things you are grateful for
5. Practice positive self-talk
Cognitive Self-Care Activities:
1. Journaling or creative writing
2. Take a self-study course
3. Read a book
4. Watch or listen to a documentary
5. Brain games
Spiritual Self-Care Activities:
1. Pray
2. Connect with nature
3. Meditate
4. Engage in self-reflection
5. Yoga
