Learning to lift your head up again after grief of losing a child to suicide with Charlene Fanstone

  • Summary

  • Charlene Fanstone, a photographer, mother and author of two blogs, ‘Healthy Living with Charlene’ and ‘Lift Your Head Again’. Charlene became a stepmum to her three children and wanting to be an involved parent at 23 years of age for her meant a fast track to growing up. Charlene’s experienced many WhyMe moments through her shared experiences with her family. She became an advocate for father’s rights through their battle to give the children a safe and secure home through the court system. As each of the children were slowly granted these rights, Charlene and her husband helped the kids through building love and fostering those relationships and connections. Through all the ways kids often love to express themselves and enjoy participating in life, there was much hockey, dance, soccer and other pursuits finally being explored and enjoyed for what became a very happy family unit. That was until a knock on the door that changed everything.

Charlene discusses the grief of losing her son unexpectedly to suicide, miles away, and coming to terms with the different ways we all grieve and have to learn to lift our head up again.
