Kingdom Culture Conversations

By: Frameworks a Biblical worldview initiative from Northwest Christian School
  • Summary

  • What would happen if we all came together to truly pray "Thy Kingdom come"? What would the world look like? How different would the culture be from the culture of the world today? Northwest Christian School in Phoenix, Arizona is pleased to present "Kingdom Culture Conversations" as part of Frameworks, a Biblical worldview initiative launched by the school. Northwest Christian uses God's word to address the issues that are confounding the culture in which our students are living: gender, race, the sanctity of life, sexuality, and more. Within each episode, recognized experts on these issues discuss the ramifications of holding to a Christian worldview during a time of cultural upheaval and work to equip students to understand and address the issues. • Dr. Joseph Dodson, Denver Seminary: Dodson Answers His Critics! (i.e. an accomplished author reads his Amazon reviews for the first time)
    Sep 3 2024

Published just this year, Dodson's latest book, "Conquerors Not Captives: Reframing Romans 7 for the Christian Life", serves as evidence that the author is gifted in both academia and application. In other words, Joey (as most are urged to call him given his propensity for doing away with formalities) excels at deep dives into scripture but then surfacing to show how those scriptures and the concepts they present are immediately relevant lifelines.

And, to his credit, Joey's online book reviews capture and celebrate that giftedness.

    Most of the time.

But, alas, not always. So. today, we have the fun honor of reading some of Joey's online criticisms to him and allowing him to react. Dodson's not given to reading reviews but, rather, he's already off researching, reading, and preaching--he takes no time to read the abundance of praises found online. (For example, every Amazon reader review--at least as of this writing--is five stars.) Nor has he read the critiques.

    Until today!

  • [Build Here, Build There Update] Three Remarkable Northwest Christian Seniors Realize the Merits of "Building There"
    Aug 26 2024

It would certainly be convenient if there were, but there is no recipe for successful spiritual formation in the life of a young person. To borrow a piece of parable from Jesus, as parents and educators we scatter the seed and pray that the heart's soil is such that, by the grace and mercy of the Holy Spirit, it yields fruit. That's why, if recipe is the correct analogy (it's not, by the way), prayer is the secret sauce.

But, nevertheless, when it all comes together, it is certainly glorious.

Today, we have the opportunity to revel in a bit of that: three remarkable Northwest Christian Seniors share their stories from the summer of 2024. In each case, they gave more of themselves to mission and spiritual formation than, at one point, they may have known that they had.

And, the fruit of that, as heard today in their reflections of the summer past and their dreams of God's plans ahead, is very, very exciting to observe.
