Initially experiencing severe headaches, Asher was diagnosed after an MRI revealed a pingpong ball-sized tumor on his cerebellum. Despite undergoing surgeries and starting chemotherapy, Asher remains resilient and upbeat. His treatment includes six chemotherapy cycles, with potential radiation to follow. Asher's family has received overwhelming support, raising over $57,000 through a GoFundMe campaign. Throughout his hospital stays, Asher enjoys audiobooks, therapy dog visits, and Disney movies, maintaining his cheerful and sociable nature. STORY 2: Denim Fest Returns to The Mill on Etowah in Canton Nov. 1-2 Denim Fest returns to The Mill on Etowah in Canton on November 1-2, celebrating the mill's denim-producing history. The festival kicks off with trick-or-treating, a kids' costume contest, and a performance by Yacht Rock Schooner Band. On November 2, activities include a vendor market, kids zone, and screenings of college football games. The day also features a BBQ cook-off, with tickets priced at $35 online or $40 at the door, benefiting The Children’s Haven. The event includes six BBQ dishes, desserts, and a specialty drink. Shops and restaurants at the mill will be open, and parking is free. STORY 3: Holly Springs Police Clock Drivers Traveling Over 100 MPH The Holly Springs Police Department is urging drivers to slow down on Interstate 575 after clocking two vehicles exceeding 100 mph. One driver was recorded at 154 mph, and another at 131 mph. Both drivers have been arrested. The department emphasized the dangers of speeding and the importance of obeying speed limits to ensure road safety. Since then, he's been in Nashville writing and recording country music. Leatherwood, who grew up in Hickory Flat, credits his grandfather for his musical inspiration. His influences include Eric Church and the Allman Brothers. After winning "The Voice," he performed in Woodstock and headlined the River Rock Music Fest. He debuted at the Grand Ole Opry in September 2023, calling it a career highlight. His single "Hung Up on You" was released in September and quickly gained traction. Leatherwood plans to release a debut album and tour in 2024, attributing his success to community support. STORY 5: Place Services Inc. Breaks Ground on New Holly Springs HQ Place Services, Inc. (PSI), a remodeling and construction company, began construction on its new headquarters in Holly Springs on October 18. Founded in 2006 in Canton, PSI has expanded to include three businesses with design-build capabilities, 12 trade divisions, and seven general contracting divisions, serving clients nationwide. The company boasts over $400 million in annual revenue and employs over 1,000 skilled tradesmen. The new facility will accommodate at least 175 employees, up from the current 120, and is located at 4401 Gabriel Boulevard.
