Eric Reisman's "The Boys from the Bronx: A Story of Brotherly Love Forged in War & Peace"

  • Summary

  • The Boys from the Bronx is the true story of 11-year-old boys from the East Bronx

who started a sports club in 1938 and remained friends for a lifetime.

Synthesizing information from their letters written during and after the war, and

through videotaped interviews, Eric Reisman, son of founding group member

Bernie Reisman, recounts the story of the Trojans’ brotherly love. Bernie was the

founder of two programs at Brandeis University: the Hornstein Jewish Leadership

Program and the BOLLI Adult Learning Institute.

Eric, a retired Special Educator, is a first-time author who wanted to memorialize

this amazing group and explore the influences that shaped their long-lasting

friendships. In addition to spreading the word of brotherly love, Eric is in search

of relatives or friends of the members. He has formed a 2 nd Generation group to

continue the group’s legacy. You will be inspired by the power of this rare male

friendship that lasted over 70 years.
