• The Four Phases of Healing a Highly Sensitive Nervous System
    Nov 15 2024

One of the biggest challenges in healing a sensitive nervous system is breaking the cycle of reaction. When symptoms appear, it’s easy to jump into what I like to call the “five Fs”: fighting, fixing, fearing, focusing, and getting frustrated.

Each of these responses only amplifies the discomfort, trapping you in constant symptom management.

For a long time, I thought that if I just fought hard enough or found the right fix, I’d finally be free. But trying to control every sensation kept me stuck—it actually fed the cycle instead of breaking it.

It became clear that I needed to approach my symptoms differently. That’s when the real shift happened. I learned to change my mindset to one of acceptance without expectation, which helped my nervous system naturally desensitize over time.

In this episode, I’ll explain the four phases of healing and how to navigate each of them, from the reactive stage to a place where life becomes bigger than any symptom.

Tune in to learn how to move past the five Fs and make real progress in your recovery journey.

    Key Takeaways:

    • Intro (00:00)
    • Phase #1: Trying to fix symptoms through the five Fs (01:34)
    • Phase #2: Allowing symptoms to exist without resistance (03:28)
    • Phase #3: Avoiding expectation in acceptance (04:44)
    • Phase #4: Prioritizing life over recovery (06:48)
    • Embracing setbacks as a natural part of the journey (08:14)

  • Every Anxiety Setback Is a Step Toward Full Recovery – Devyani Shorey Knows Why
    Nov 12 2024

Devyani Shorey joined, left, and eventually returned to Bye Bye Panic.

After years of struggling with anxiety symptoms, she finally found the support she needed in the BBP mentorship program and community. She made rapid progress and soon felt ready to go it alone.

But a few months later, a serious setback hit hard. She thought she’d left behind panic attacks, self-doubt, and overwhelming fear, but they crept back in. Realizing she needed support beyond what she could manage alone, Devyani rejoined BBP.

  • The Fastest Way to Shift Your Brain Out of Anxiety Mode
    Nov 7 2024

Anxiety has a way of making you feel like it’s here to stay. Worry starts small, as a concern about your health, work, or just an off feeling. However, the nervous system can quickly become so sensitive that even minor stressors feel overwhelming and push you into a constant state of high alert.

To put it simply, worry builds on itself. This “worry loop” triggers symptoms like heart palpitations, headaches, or digestive issues, fueling anxiety and making it feel even more real. Each sensation fuels more worry, releases more adrenaline, and sometimes causes panic attacks. And as you can guess – all of that further intensifies the cycle.

To get out of this loop, you don’t need to manage each symptom alone, but instead, learn how to calm the nervous system and let thoughts pass without reacting. Understanding how your mind and body respond to worry can make all the difference, giving you tools to detach from constant worry and shift out of anxiety mode faster.

In this episode, I talk about nervous system sensitization and how desensitizing it can be the fastest way to break the anxiety cycle.

Tune in to learn what it takes to calm your system and shift out of anxiety mode.

    Key Takeaways:

    • Intro (00:00)
    • How worry manifests physically (01:27)
    • Panic attacks and their reinforcing effects (02:50)
    • How anxiety affects specific body functions (05:12)
    • Nervous system sensitization explained (06:02)
    • Recognizing worrying as a habit (08:20)
    • True recovery vs. temporary coping (09:01)

  • How To Finally Stop Ruminating On Negative Thoughts
    Nov 5 2024

Ruminating on negative thoughts is one of the most stubborn anxiety symptoms. One thought leads to another, and it’s easy to spiral down a rabbit hole of “what ifs” and worst-case scenarios.

You keep worrying, and your thoughts feel painfully real. It's because anxiety pulls from past experiences and links old fears with current worries. Actually, this way, your anxiety is tricking your brain into staying on high alert.

And that isn’t something you should blame yourself for or think there’s something wrong with you. It’s simply your brain’s way of trying to protect you.

The most important thing to remember about intrusive thoughts is that the more you react to them, the more power they hold. So, the key to stopping this cycle isn’t fighting the thoughts but learning to step back and let them pass on their own.

    So, how to do that?

Tune in for this episode and find out!

I’ll break down the mechanics of anxiety and show you how detaching from your thoughts can make a real difference.

Tune in to let go of ruminating on negative thoughts and finally find peace.

    Key Takeaways:

    • Intro (00:00)
    • Anxiety’s survival mode amplifies worst-case scenarios (01:20)

  • How to Calm a Brain Stuck in Survival Mode
    Oct 30 2024

When your brain’s in survival mode, even the smallest things can feel overwhelming, like you’re constantly on edge for no real reason. You might wonder why simple situations now set off waves of anxiety or why your body reacts like there’s danger around every corner.

This isn’t about something being broken in you – it’s actually your nervous system being in a state called “sensitization.”

Think of it like a volume knob turned up way too high, so even the quietest sounds feel blaring. After a tough experience – like a panic attack or a high-stress period – your brain can start overreacting to little things, sensing danger where there isn’t any.

Getting back to calm doesn’t mean fighting these feelings or trying to avoid them. It’s about retraining your brain, showing it there’s no need for panic. So next time anxiety shows up, try meeting it with calm instead of tension. Bit by bit, your brain starts to trust again, learning that it’s okay to relax.

In this episode, let’s dig into how you can make that shift and feel in control again.

    Key Takeaways:

    • Intro (00:00)
    • Why is my stress response so sensitive? (01:35)
    • “Just anxiety”? The frustration of feeling dismissed (02:29)
    • Nervous system sensitization explained simply (03:24)
    • How panic attacks can change everything (04:38)
    • Sensitization and constant fight-or-flight mode (06:10)
    • Relearning to differentiate between threats (08:28)
    • Recap (09:36)

In fact, the urge to fix every little symptom actually fuels the cycle, keeping your mind locked in fight-or-flight mode. It’s no wonder progress feels out of reach.

In this episode, I’m explaining why breaking away from the usual approaches and patterns is crucial for real recovery and what you need to shift in your response to the symptoms.

  • How to Send Messages of Safety to the Brain
    Oct 25 2024

One of the biggest struggles people face when dealing with persistent symptoms is figuring out how to send true messages of safety to the brain.

If you've ever tried to reassure yourself with logic, supplements, meditation, or endless lifestyle changes, you know that just telling yourself "everything is fine" doesn’t always work. In fact, it can feel like your brain is stubbornly refusing to get the message.

I’ve been there myself, endlessly Googling symptoms, visiting doctors, and making every effort to "fix" what felt broken. But the real breakthrough came when I realized that my symptoms were coming from my brain, not a physical defect in my body.

The key wasn’t to keep fighting or fixing – it was to learn how to respond calmly to the sensations.

In this episode, I share practical steps you can take to train your brain to recognize safety. You’ll learn why acceptance isn’t about making symptoms disappear and how your response – not just your actions – can make all the difference.

It’s time to stop sending signals that something is wrong and start showing your brain that everything is okay, one response at a time.

Tune in and find out how to shift your approach and truly start healing!

    Key Takeaways:

    • Intro (00:00)
    • Why most traditional methods fail to bring real relief (01:11)
