3 Keys to Body Language | Episode 56

  • Summary

  • Body language is one of the most valuable assets for establishing a confident presence. Whether you’re on-camera, on-stage, or in-person networking, It all boils down to the way you carry yourself. Between 70 and 93% of communication is non-verbal, so that’s pretty important!

Start strong at the base and plant your feet. If your legs are crossed, uncross them to give you a stronger foundation. If you really need to keep still and are standing, squeeze one thigh (weird, but it will keep you still!)

The next component is keeping your shoulders back, and fighting that reflex to “close in” on yourself. Keeping your shoulders back and chin up whether you’re in a seated or standing position.

Last, and the absolute most important is eye contact. If you’re on-camera, this looks like staring directly into your camera, not your preview on Zoom, but your actual camera. If you’re in-person, then it’s looking at actual eyeballs. This shows that you’re focused and paying attention.
