Summary

The 12th installment in the New York Times best-selling series asks: What if Rapunzel's mother drank a potion from the wrong flower?

Desperate to save the life of their queen and her unborn child, the good citizens of the kingdom comb the land for the all-healing Sundrop flower to cure her...but someone mistakenly picks the blossom of the Moondrop instead. This shimmering flower heals the queen, and she delivers a healthy baby girl - with hair as silver and gray as the moon. But with her mysterious hair comes dangerous magical powers: the power to hurt, not heal. For the safety of the kingdom, Rapunzel is locked away in a tower and put under the care of the powerful goodwife Mother Gothel.

For 18 years Rapunzel stays imprisoned in her tower, knowing she must protect everyone from her magical hair. When she finally decides to leave the only home she's ever known - to see the floating lights that appear on her birthday - she gets caught up in an unexpected adventure with two thieves: a would-be outlaw named Gina and Flynn Rider, a rogue on the run. Before she can reach her happy ending, Rapunzel learns that there is far more to her story, her magical hair, and her future than she ever knew.

throughly enjoyed. some parts not children appropriate think it should have a warning on there as it is a disney branded book.

unexpected but in a good way

This was my first twisted fairytale retelling and it did not disappointment the storyline was amazing. so good, I'd actually watch it if it was ever made into an animation!
The characters follow the newer version of rapunzel rather than the original but still very well written.
I highly recommend this. I personally struggle with audio books as I cant seem to immerse myself into the story but had no problems with this one. The narrator was amazing and I will be buying the rest of the twisted retellings just because I enjoyed this one so much.

I will also be putting this on for my 5ye a r old niece when she next asks me for a read! Thr language used is children friendly!!

So glad I came across this!

Amazing!

I really enjoyed this story, however it had some strange cuts in a few chapters that made it feel rather strange to catch on to what was going on. But besides that the story was excellent and the reader did a great job at differentiating the voices. However I did find it odd how the story seemingly references the Tangled TV show yet acts as if it doesn't exist at the same time, it left me pretty confused in the first few chapters.

Another thing to note is this is a bit different from the other twisted tale books, in this one it is told through a brother telling a story to his sister. This may detour some people however I found all the interactions to be short, sweet and wholesome, also they gave a chance to digest all the information I had taken in before that point.

Overall however the issues are minimal and the story is great and easy to follow.

amazing

I loved this. Love tangled and this was great! It did cut off at the end of a chapter or 2, which was distracting but other than that I loved it.

an alternate but equally beautiful story

it's a long story that has a very different twist than the Disney's version, but just as good!

Drags on

Cuts off early in chapter 19 and 37.. Leaving the listener wondering what's going on. Not very exciting

Brilliant

Loved from start to finish, 4 stars only because some chapters seem to have been abruptly cut short.

Not written in the same way as others

So this is told as a story within a story…
When in the story or rapunzel, it is what I have come to expect from the twisted tale series it’s a decent enough story… but! I do not like this odd dialogue outside of the narrative , of two siblings in a hospital.. essentially the story is told by a brother who is making it up for his sister.

It cuts randomly to them chatting in the hospital which really takes you out of the story. And I feel it’s totally unnecessary

I have listened to several of the earlier twisted tales and they are great… but I will be careful of others written in this style. I
