Summary
Audie Award, Fantasy, 2016
As the smallest dragon in the Heartstriker clan, Julius survives by a simple code: keep quiet, don't cause trouble, and stay out of the way of bigger dragons. But this meek behavior doesn't fly in a family of ambitious magical predators, and his mother, Bethesda the Heartstriker, has finally reached the end of her patience. Now, sealed in human form and banished to the DFZ - a vertical metropolis built on the ruins of Old Detroit - Julius has one month to prove he can be a ruthless dragon or kiss his true shape goodbye forever. But in a city of modern mages and vengeful spirits where dragons are considered monsters to be exterminated, he's going to need some serious help to survive this test. He only hopes humans are more trustworthy than dragons....

It’s alright
3.5 for this book. Not as good as the Minimum Wage Magic series. It’s not bad but it’s not amazing. It’s just ok. Some may love it more than I did. Great world though.

Any additional comments?
right, i dont give a book or audible book praise that often ladies and gents but here. right here is a good listen. its not serious so dont expect it to be. its not edgy so dont expect that. what it is . its fully realized characters. its a B E A Utiful world. fully fleshed like that pretty tubby girl who lives down the lane. you may feel guilty but its a hell of a ride / listen. its just done well. its not adult it not brutal. normally a must for me. but its fleshed out so well hell i dont care. this is the audible book u would take home to ur mum. the one who dosent do her make up like a hoe.
long and the short. young dragon trapped in a human body thrown out into the world with 98 bucks and flip all else. enjoy enjoy enjoy u people. it is fun. plain and simple. takes 2-3 hours to get going. always read the label. do not ingest,

Endearing Characters and Amazing Narration!
A friend spent a lot of time trying to get me to read this book. Described to me as “a very me kind of book” I felt compelled to give it a try. I was not disappointed. Nice Dragons Finish Last is fairly lighthearted and has an amazing and altogether loveable cast. The audiobook is very well narrated and I’ve already started on the rest of the series.
Setting
Nice Dragons Finish Last is set in a future Earth. Magic vanished thousands of years ago, and reappeared quite recently. With it have come magical animals (like dragons), spirits, and human mages.
Characters
In my opinion, the characters are what really make this book. Julius is the epitome of nice; he’s a very loveable character who you just want to see succeed. The supporting cast, his family, other dragons, and his human friend, Marci, are all also great characters who I really enjoyed reading about.
Plot
The plot is driven by the characters and how they deal with the situations they keep getting themselves thrown into. I also have the feeling that there’s a complex layer of plots underlying the series as a whole, and I’m really interested in where they end up. That’s not to say that the plot doesn’t resolve itself in this book, but I have the feeling that events from this book will be relevant all through the series.
Other Thoughts
I listened to the audio version of this book, often while walking around the city, and spent most of the time grinning like a complete loon. Vikas Adam does a fantastic job with the narration, and I was so impressed that I went and bought the next 3 audiobooks, and preordered the 5th book, due to be released on March 1st.
I’m not a great audiobook person. I can’t listen while doing nothing, and I can’t listen while doing something that takes a reasonable amount of brain power, hence limiting the amount of time I have to listen to audiobooks. I enjoyed this book so much that I went and started cleaning things just so I could spend more time with it.

Great new universe - good for shy early teens
My 13 year old son is quite shy and as soon as I'd finished listening to this book, I passed it straight onto him. There is some romance (a bit of kissing, oggling at bottoms etc) but nothing you'd be too embarrassed about your mum walking in on (having said that he's listening on headphones). This is a fairly light read, but it grows on you and I found myself getting more & more involved.
The main character is a dragon, who just so happens to prefer humans to his murderous family. His mother threatens to eat him if he doesn't become more draconic - a fact that my teenage son thinks is hilarious. This is a "over coming odds" and "be yourself" type novel, which is saved from being just one more chick-lit sci-fi romance by a strong cast of characters and a really well developed magical universe. If you have a shy teen who doesn't feel they fit in, hand it over. Seriously. You think you have problems with your brother ... try being the youngest heartstriker.

Really a great read
I enjoyed it massively. A nice balance of fun, adventure and romance. The narrator is excellent too with some of the best sounding female voices I've heard from a male reader in an audio book.

Favourite book in my library
I really love this book. It is so cute. I love the whole series, but this book is the best of the bunch. Vikas Adam is pretty good with accents. He is good at womans voices to. Would recommend to fans of urban fantasy. It is a fun and easy read. If I could give this book more stars I would!

An enjoyable romp
This book hit all the major tropes in humour for a fantasy genre. Its not going to change the world but it was good fun.
A lot of the jokes felt tired but the way that the book was written they really worked. This was a gamble getting this book but it really paid off for me and it was a very pleasant side trak. I would probably read the next.
