She’s the lawyer. But now she’s the one on trial.
A red canoe sits abandoned on Seymour Rock, where the Saugatuck River meets Long Island Sound. The elegantly dressed corpse of a woman lies inside...
Lawyer Nora Carleton left New York for Connecticut to become lead counsel at Saugatuck Associates, the world’s largest hedge fund. Life has become slower, more predictable... that is, until Nora's colleague and friend, Helen, is brutally murdered, and she becomes the prime suspect.
Before Helen's death, she and Nora were investigating a lead: someone within Saugatuck was using insider information to undercut the company's investments. Nora knows this is linked to Helen’s murder – but how?
Calling in old colleagues from the US Attorney’s office in Manhattan, Nora must find evidence to prove her innocence and solve the case – or risk being put behind bars herself.

Fame does not guarantee talent
This book was recommended by a UK newspaper as a good summer read. Should have thought deeper about my opinion of the journalism in that paper before buying. Very pedestrian writing and cliched exchanges, and a great deal of background information that isn’t too helpful to the plot and makes the story drag. Will finish but only on principle not because of desire.

Benny’s tenacity.
I liked the characters in the book. I enjoyed the author's deep understanding of legal procedures and how investigations are conducted. The book kept me engaged throughout.
