About this listen
They came to Earth - Pestilence, War, Famine, Death - four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to Earth, and they came to end us all.
The day Jerusalem falls, Miriam Elmahdy knows her life is over. Houses are burning, the streets run red with blood, and a traitorous army is massacring every last resident. There is no surviving this, especially not once Miriam catches the eye of War himself. But when the massive and terrifying horseman corners Miriam, he calls her his wife, and instead of killing her, he takes her back to his camp.
Now, Miriam faces a terrifying future, one where she watches her world burn town by town, and the one man responsible for it all is her seemingly indestructible “husband”. But there’s another side to him, one that’s gentle and loving and dead set on winning her over, and she might not be strong enough to resist.
However, if there’s one thing Miriam has learned, it’s that love and war cannot coexist. And so, she must make the ultimate choice: surrender to War and watch humankind fall or sacrifice everything and stop him.

More!
I don't even know where to start, I don't read many dystopian novels but having read Pestilence, I automatically craved the next installment! 2 individuals, both openly uncompromising in their values and opinions - war took place in the world around them but the real war was just between the 2 of them.
It was like a really great meal - I needed to consume the whole thing but I was imediately sorry I had because that meant it was over - I look forward to famine.

Wow
I love this book.
I just got one question for book 1.
Did Sara and Victor have a boy or a girl?
Ok back to this story.
Characters: good, like how they grow.
Story: wonderful. I was so invested that I couldn’t put it away.
I can’t wait for the 3rd brother and his story.

Loved the story and the characters. I will be gutted when the series ends.

It just gets better
I loved listening Pestilence then along comes War and steals the limelight from Pestilence.
Miriam has to come to terms when War tells her she was sent to him to be his wife. She is so defiant she’s having none of this nonsense and at every turn she defies him he tells her he knew she was going to be trouble from the start. Loved the way the story built making me want more and I sat up all night listening. I’m going to start Famine now and can’t wait to listen to Death when it’s released.

Enjoyable
Enjoyable listen but a few niggles, including the transformation of outlook that seems to come about out of nowhere. Would have enjoyed it a lot more if that transition was more convincing.

Amazingly good! Totally worth it.
OMG! What a book. It is heavy...sad, tragic and emotional, lovely and it even has a some humor a few times. War is brutal, tragic, nonsensical and gruesome, but the hope and love overrules the desperation and tragedy. Susannah Jones is AMAZING as always and she makes this book come to life beautiful through her narration.
