Summary

That bullet wasn't meant for me.

Or was it? Who would want to kill me? I make friends, not enemies. I live in the coziest, sweetest town on Earth, and I own a yarn store. I’m a knitter for goodness sake! Knitters are like the Golden Retrievers of humankind. Everybody loves us. At first, I was sure it was a case of mistaken identity. Now I’m not as sure.

My friends and family are rallying around me to keep me safe. They act overly cautious and say things like, “just in case”. My boyfriend, the cop, is taking a leave of absence from work to be my personal bodyguard. My mother-friend, Connie won’t let me work in my own yarn store “just in case” the shooter looks for me there. My best friend April goes everywhere with me. Actually, I don’t mind that part, I love April and we have a blast together, even when we’re hunting for a killer.

Does someone really want me dead? Who? Why? Is it someone I know? The police think it might be. Can I follow my instincts and unravel the clues before they try again?

If you like your cozy mysteries with a bit of humour, small town Canadian life, a hint of romance, a close circle of quirky, lovable characters that you wish you knew in real life, dogs and cats, and free knitting patterns, there's something in this series for you.

Clean read: No graphic violence, sex, or strong language.

Stitching the clues together and reveal a murderer

I really enjoyed this book. This is book four in this fun series and when bullets start to fly in the first few pages I wondered if I had missed anything, I hadn't and all will be revealed. It's just a great start to the story and grabs you interest as you try to work out why kind and friendly yarn store owner Megan might be a target for a killer. There was plenty of suspects and I had worked it out but it was more of a guess than knew for certain. I liked how it played out and thought it was an interesting mystery with the mix up. The knitting reference are mostly kept to the title of each book, so don't worry if knitting isn't your thing because Megan is too busy investigating a murder to pick up stitches and hardly spends any time in the shop but it is nice to have a different profession for a cozy mystery. I love the characters in this series, who are likeable and feel like one big happy family, even ex's are worried about making it a nice cozy mystery and less about the family drama that sometimes takes over a story. Looking forward to the next story.
When Megan is nearly run off the road and has bullet holes in her car her friends and family to into protective mode. Her cop boyfriend is worried she is a target because of his job and takes time off to play bodyguard. Her best friend won't let her out of her sight and even her ex husband wants to move back in just in case. So what is going on? Megan doesn't start to unravel it until a body is found and it proves that just maybe she was right, she wasn't the target. Can Megan convince her friends that she needs to investigate the murder in order to feel safe again? Or will the case being in two different jurisdiction and being investigated by two different policemen mean it will go cold?
I liked the narrator. She brings the characters to life and the story just flies by, a sign of a good book.
