Summary
Danger waits on both sides of the grave…
Half-vampire Cat Crawfield and her vampire husband, Bones, have fought for their lives, as well as for their relationship. But just when they’ve triumphed over the latest battle, Cat’s new and unexpected abilities threaten to upset a long-standing balance.
With the mysterious disappearance of vampires, rumors abound that a species war is brewing. A zealot is inciting tensions between the vampires and ghouls, and if these two powerful groups clash, innocent mortals could become collateral damage. Now Cat and Bones are forced to seek help from a dangerous “ally”—the ghoul queen of New Orleans herself. But the price of her assistance may prove more treacherous than even the threat of a supernatural war—to say nothing of the repercussions Cat never imagined.

another great story
another great chapter in the night huntress universe. this time we're at war with ghouls. I love how every story brings out a new dimension to the undead world, New powers or species to consider. another great story with an achingly sad loss woven in.

Cat and Bones versus ghouls
Makes more sense if you've read/heard the earlier books in this entertaining vampire series. Enjoyable story with more on Cat and Bones' relationship. Characters who've appeared in the Night Huntress World series books 1 and 2 also appear fairly briefly (but with adequate explanation if you haven't read those). My only problem with the audiobooks is that this narrator makes Bones (a Londoner from the early 1800s) sound like the Artful Dodger (from Oliver Twist), with an improbably high and camp Cockney voice which I just can't match with the character in the book. I expected a voice a bit more like Vinnie Jones in "Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels"! Spade, however, an English gentleman (a baronet) from the same period, gets a civilised deeper voice with a BBC accent, which is done well and is much easier to listen to. My 4 stars are for the book itself and the mostly very appropriate narration but it would have had 5 stars with a better voice for Bones.

excellent series
narrating all the different characters isn't easy - excellent job on this series.
the night huntress series is basically Spike from Buffy meets half human - vampire heroine plus sex.
if you like a creature feature this series is for you.

Loved it
Another brilliant book by Jeanine Frost, I have already read the Kindle version but still really enjoyed Tavia Gilbert telling of the story. Her voice really suits the books.

Excellent story
Absolutely awesome book. Looks of scenes that are so well written (and read) that they stay strong in my mind for months afterwards. As usual brilliant writing by Jeaniene Frost and brilliant reading by Tavia Gilbert. Tavia does all the voices so differently and well, I can hardly get my head around how different all the characters sound. The books are gripping, passionate and funny. Kat, the main character, is super sassy and cool at all times. She finally takes the plunge to the 'otherside'...
