About this listen

Call it fate, call it luck, but when a powerful wolf shifter walks into my life, everything changes.

Bel

I’ve made some stupid decisions in my life, and one in particular keeps coming back to haunt me. When I keep running into a handsome stranger, I know I should push him away, if only to keep him safe from my mess, keep him safe from me. But something inside of me—my heart, my magic, or my soul—keeps pushing me toward him, offering to make all my secret dreams come true. And I don’t know how to stay away.

Remi

When I travel across the world to open a new business—and get away from my overbearing family—the last thing I ever expect is to find the most beautiful and alluring fae I’ve ever met. I’m drawn to him, and I’m pretty sure if he lets his guard down, he’ll admit he’s drawn to me too. All I want to do is pull Bel into my arms and protect him from whatever he’s hiding. But he’s skittish and suspicious, and I just want to prove to him that he can trust me.

Fate, and a bit of luck, brought us together, and I’m not going to let it or anything else tear us apart.

The Wolf’s (Un)Lucky Fae is a part of the multi-author series, Fortune Favors the Fae. From spicy to sweet, zany romps to epic adventures, there’s something for everyone in this mystical series. Discover destiny and true love and follow the coin on its fickle journey to the next world and a new magical adventure.

Awesome Story & Narration🎧Magically Captivating!

Michele Notaro pens another amazing novel, an urban fantasy mm romance novel that is magical, one that grabs your attention and captivates it the entire. I am a newcomer to this magical world, and am usually hesitant to jump into an existing world, especially paranormal ones, but since this is a standalone in a multi-author series and an author whose detailed and descriptive writing are fantastic, that it would not be an issue and I was right, I never felt lost or if something was missing. Remi, a wolf shifter, runs a security business in Brinnswick and, looking to expand his business, he moved with three of his closest friends to another country, Gauhala, to open up offices there. Out and about, he sees him, Bel, and he feels an instant attraction to him and oddly, there is a magical coin that pulls them together, more than once. Bel is fae and in Gauhala the people do not treat fae well, and they look down on them, and that is not how it is where Remi is from, so he treats him as he should be, like an equal. Bel is reluctant and untrusting, but Remi does not give up on him and Bel realizes he is for real and there is an undeniable chemistry between them. Except Bel is hiding a secret, one he knows will ruin everything for him. This cleverly plotted story has the perfect balance of drama, angst, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. The writing, world building and character development are amazing and there are a lot of layers to the story. Michele Notaro, thank you for another fabulous story.

🎧📚🎧   Michael Lesley did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life and did so with a complete understanding of who he was portraying, giving each their own distinct voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who was who. He set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’s emotions and had you feeling them all. Lesley is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thanks for the fabulous listen.

MM Fae World

Step into another unique fantasy world crafted by Michele Notaro. The characters are not just characters, they are living beings with a rich back story that you can easily immerse yourself in. The MM Fae world is a place of wonder and mystery, waiting for you to explore.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story and would recommend it. However, I did have a little trouble with Bel's voice, but not enough that I stopped listening. It's a pity this book is a standalone; I hope they develop it into a series.

This is the second narration I've listened to by Michael Lesley. Both were well narrated, with the exception of Bel's voice, which I found a bit grating. However, this didn't ruin the book for me. I sped up the narration to 1.15 on Audible, which is my norm, and it made the experience more enjoyable.

Sweet with a mystery

I was hoping this would be a sweet story without any major angst and it turned out to be exactly that. Bel and Remi make a wonderful couple and it was lovely seeing how much Remi wanted to get Bel to open up and tell him why he was so reluctant to deepen their relationship. I was caught up in that mystery too and happily followed the plot until both Remi and I found out what was going on. Seeing these two dance around each other and finally get their HEA made for a great read. Michael Lesley was the perfect performer for this story. He has a wonderful ability to capture both light and shadow in his work

Wolf Boy and his Fae

Wolf Boy and his Fae - a sweet and patient love story.

Bel is a skittish fae living in a world that hates and mistrusts them. So he’s suspicious of Remi, the sweet wolf who seems determined to befriend him regardless of what others may think and not matter how much he tries to push him away.

Remi is such a lovely person, who comes from a large, warm, and very protective family. But they’ve also all found their soul mates, and it’s the one thing he really feels like he’s missing.

So when he finds him, he’ll fight to keep him.

It’s a fun and swoony story, set in a really interesting world. There’s a bit of mystery about how they’ll battle the evil dude who has Remi in his gripe. And I love how it ended.

The audiobook is well done. Narrator Micheal Lesley is new to me, but he’s definitely talented and employed lots of super interesting accents that helped make the characters distinct and enjoyable.

Enjoyable fated mates romance

I really enjoyed this story which gives a different view of the Fae than I have seen before. Usually, they are portrayed as mysterious, tricky, untrustworthy, dangerous magical beings at or near the top of society. Here, they are at the very bottom of society, discriminated against and very poorly treated, although a few are still tricky and dangerous. Poor Bel is scraping along, trying to support himself and help his cousins as a street musician. His life changes when he meets Remi, a wolf-shifter as different from him as can be. Remi realizes they are fated, but Bel fears to become enamored or entrapped by another. Life has taught him not to trust.

Watching Remi support and cherish Bel, and seeing Bel start to open up was heart-warming. But will Remi stand by him when Bel's past threatens them both? This is a sweet, surprisingly low-angst, story with only a little violence toward the end. I loved seeing Bell come into his own and take on the Fae shadowing his life. The ending was perfect. It looks like this is a standalone story, although the interactions between Tan and the Dragon King seemed to indicate maybe another pairing in the works. I hope the author brings us that story.

The narration was solid, and I really enjoyed all Remi's friends.

I received a free copy of the audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Paranormal romance

This is a book in the multi-author series 'Fortune Favors the Fae'. As often is the way with these series, the author has connected the story with one of their other series. As this is the first book I've read by this author I had no background from the other series, but I don't think it affected my reading experience. There are a number of side characters from previous stories but sufficient background was provided for it not to be an issue. I imagine fans of the series would be stoked at the appearance of their favourite characters.
I enjoyed it although I had a few issues:
* Remy was a tad too perfect. There was a point where I was waiting for anger and conflict, even for just a few hours, but it never came. You'll know where I mean when you read it.
* Bel drove me to distraction with his 'woe is me, I'm not good enough for him'. I mean I got it but it was wearing.
* The narrator (who is new to me) did a great job overall but I didn't like the voice he used for Bel. I get that this is fantasy world and accents wouldn't necessarily fit our countries, but it sounded too close to a bad Irish accent that it was jarring to my ears. I got used to it over time but I didn't like it.
* Why bring all of Remy's family in to make a plan and then not implement that plan at all.

Despite the issues I had, I liked Bel and Remy as a couple. I also liked their friends, especially the gargoyle Tyrell, and I'm guessing the author is setting this up be the start of a spin off series. Other couples I'm expecting:

Tan and the Dragon King
Bel's cousin and his vampire bookstore owner friend

Overall a fun audio read that whiled away several dull hours in the car.

Michael Lesley makes this a 'must listen' story!!

Michael Lesley is a phenomenal voice actor, and this is another example of how well he can make you forget that you're listening to 1 person!
The story held my interest. I liked how a gold coin brought 2 people - Remi and Bel - together. For those who have followed the Brinnswick series (I have not, but will), there are cameos of past characters; for those who haven't (like me), it still works very well as a standalone - I enjoyed the brief backstory and plan on reading the series.
Anyway, this a very interesting addition to the mutli-author series, it has a little hurt/comfort, humour, friendship, family and love woven into a romantic story line. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Michael Lesley just takes my breath away with the extent of his talent - I loved all the voices he created for the characters (though some grew on me a bit later). An excellent way to experience the story and a great intro to Mr Lesley's talent, if you're not already familiar.

Very fun

This was such a fun story! I haven't read Notaro's other connected works, so there were a lot of character names, but I figured it out and definitely enjoyed this story. The romance is very sweet (must be a fan of instalove) and I adored the characters. The coin had a little less of a point here, but to me it's a really whatever point of this whole series. I listened to the audio and Michael Lesley never ceases to amaze me. I thought I had heard every voice in his aresnal and yet I still heard brand new ones here. This made me excited for Notaro to write more in this world (and maybe go back and pick up the other brothers!)

Remi Ellwood's story!

I was so excited when I saw that Remi Ellwood was getting his own story, and I absolutely loved his and Bel's healing journey. Their romance leaned hard into slow-burn and hurt/comfort themes, and my heart and soul got so invested in seeing them reach a happy ending. Bel had been through so much before he met Remi, and it broke my heart to see how little trust he had for anyone outside of his small family. I could tell that he had no idea what to do with Remi's sweet earnestness, and it was very cute to see Bel slowly open up and learn to trust in it. Remi was such a sweetheart in the way he approached Bel--always careful to respect his boundaries and offering reassurance without any strings attached. At times I thought Bel might skitter away and never contact Remi again, but with time and patience the two of them built a deeply intimate bond. The more Bel opened up to Remi, the more I saw what an incredible person he was, placed in a crappy situation. I was downright horrified when I found out about all the strings tying him to an evil mastermind, and the fact that he bound himself to keep his family safe was such a self-sacrificing Bel thing to do. In terms of the storyline, I really enjoyed getting to see more of the world outside of Brinnswick and follow a new set of characters. Remi's new security firm was an exciting endeavor to explore, and while I didn't get a ton of time to meet his team I already like what I see. Michele Notaro laid some breadcrumbs for a couple of potential relationships that I'm already desperately curious about, and I can't wait to see what twists and turns are in store for all of them. The big bad of Remi and Bel's story wasn't a huge surprise to me, but the action heated up quickly right at the very end and left the team with some devastating losses even as they eeked out a victory. And of course, I can't review an Ellwood book without talking about their huge, messy, loving family and how much I adore all of them. Even though most of this book focused on Remi's independent venture, there were plenty of cameos from my old favorites and it was a ton of fun to see Bel meet everyone.
