About this listen

What happens when a snarky hit man and a by-the-book PI cross paths?

Leland
Being a hit man has its perks, but I never thought getting an accidental mooning by an attractive PI while he’s caught on a fence would be one of them. While it’s not exactly love at first sight, he’s captured my interest and won’t let go.

Suddenly, I find myself caught in a game of cat and mouse, determined to attract the attention of Jackson, the PI who should be my enemy. He pretends like he’s not flattered by my flowers and the mentions of my totally-not-fictitious blow-up doll, Randy (or was it Dandy?), but I know better. Why else would he be teaming up with me to bring down Hardek, one of the city’s most ruthless criminals?

Jackson
Even though the cops are telling me that the hit man is a notorious contract killer, I can’t help but admit that I’m drawn to him. He’s funny, charismatic, and attractive. There’s no way this ridiculous man can be the person the cops are after.

But when Leland ends up at my doorstep injured, I’m faced with a tough choice. It’s my duty to hand him over to law enforcement, but my heart has other plans. I want to keep him. To protect him. To be with him.

Though one question remains: Why in the world does the man have so many d*mn guns?

Contains: shenanigans on a swing that you would not find at a playground, a car chase that sadly doesn't have flips or explosions, a horsey ride sans horse, cuddles, an exuberant mutt, a suspicious chief of police, and lots and lots of laughs.

Really enjoyed listening to this. Although there was a lot of lighter silly humour, there was deeper stuff within their relationship too, so it balanced nicely.

Very enjoyable

I loved it so much. Hot tip though: don't listen to it while riding public transport. I laughed so much that people stared at me as if I was crazy. And I love Michael so much, he's one of my favourite narrators, so him reading this book only made it better. I want a relationship like Leland and Jackson's!

Loved it

I came across this series after reading the authors VRC series which I absolutely love. It’s one of my favourites to re-read (listen to) it’s just so funny!

I actually wasn’t very keen on this the first time I read it and i very nearly gave up half way through but I kept going and god I am so glad that I did! I’ve now read/listened to this about 5 times in the last couple of months and I adore it! Leland is one of my favourite MMCS of all time! I don’t know why but it took me listening to the whole series twice to really fall in love with it and now it’s my comfort read. I’ve got all of the Audios, paperbacks, kindle and special edition hardback 🙈 it’s a very special series and I truly think listening at least twice is the way to go. Once you fully know all
Of their personalities and quirks you appreciate it so much more the more you listen and revisit.

🎧 6 ⭐ And Michael F is an outstanding narrator. He is incredibly talented and quite honestly shocks me how well he voices each character and keeps it so consistent in every single book. He truly takes this series to a level I don’t think it would reach with someone else narrating. He’s a literal genius!

Literal perfection 6 ⭐ for the entire series!

I honestly had to pause this book so many times as I laughed myself silly! Straight on to the next one for me. Well worth reading. Ferraiuolo is fabulous as always, one of the very few voice actors that can do all the voices in a book and not give me the ick.

Laugh out loud!

I really wanted to love this book, but I just couldn't get really into it. There wasn't anything wrong so maybe its just me.
I liked other books from Alice Winters, In the Darkness-series and Within the Mind are absolutely wonderful.
I just found Leland annoying instead of funny. And its hard to like a story if you don't like the MC.
Michael F is a very talented narrator and he gives each character unique voice. But I kinda miss Joel Leslie, I'm used to his voice in Alice Winters books...

Its not the book, its me
