Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
Cecilia Bassingwaite belongs to a very prestigious circle of women: The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels.
Yet this is no ordinary Victorian lady's society—as it's full of pirates, thieves and ne'er-do-wells.
These women spend their days pickpocketing and blackmailing their way around the country all before it's time to sit down for tea.
But when Cecilia meets Ned Lightbourne her world is set to change forever.
Because he's a paid assassin and she's his next hit.
Under the employment of the dastardly Captain Morvath—who wants to rid the world of these Lady Scoundrels—Ned knows he has one job to do.
But when he lays eyes on the feisty, beautiful Cecilia he's faced with a conundrum: does he kill her or fall in love with her?
Bridgerton meets Peaky Blinders in this swashbuckling tale of scoundrels and society, crime and crumpets. As these enemies turn to allies and might just fall in love along the way....

A Laugh out loud adventure
This is a super series of books by India Holton, the narrator adds so much to the text. The characters are so well drawn, I felt I knew them by the end of the book. Funny, silly and likeable. Ideal for a road trip or long journey.

Fiction audiobooks were not for me until....
really enjoying the surprising book. It is delightfully funny and quintessentially British. The narration and character voices make perfect sense. Sometimes, with audiobooks, it is the narration that you can't get lost in. Much easier with a book, as you make it ip in your head.

Rapidly becoming my favourite series
I adore India Holton’s writing. It’s a charming romp brought to life expertly by Elizabeth Knowlden and as soon as I finished this I immediately downloaded the rest of the series and as soon as that was finished I started at the beginning again!

Quirky and brilliant
Loved the way the characters interact in this book, it’s a refreshing comedy of language and witty retorts, in a world of pirates and flying houses just brilliant. I laughed out loud a lot.

swashbuckling love
I read the 2nd and 3rd books first by mistake, but I'm so glad that you can read these books without having to read the previous. This well contained series is a nice change to those released in recent years, the plot leads the story rather than the romance. With the romance occurring on the side and rolling well with the plot.
Thoroughly enjoyed!

Hilarious.
Unnecessary sex scenes but these are also very funny.
Excellent narration. Read with verve, characterisation & enthusiasm.

Absolutely Stupendous
From the tongue-in-cheek literary references to the (probably) accurate portrayal of Queen Victoria, this book kept me laughing and wanting more. I cannot wait to read more of this series!

Decently Tongue-in-Cheek!
Personally I found this story delightful, deliberately “ridiculous”, very funny and am keeping in my library to listen to again!!!
I do not understand the negative reviews unless of course one has no sense of humour (or doesn’t “get” double entendre), can’t tolerate the light-hearted or they thought they were buying a serious book about magic (which is not the focus of this story).
The narrator is brilliant, both with voices and the style of narration itself, translating the comedic value perfectly.
Hey-ho, maybe I’m just ridiculously silly, but this brought some joy (i.e. laugh-out-loads, sniggers & giggles) into my world… Best buy from Audible in a while!

Easy and topsy turvy
This book will grab you by the collar and take you down a Victorian / Piratical rabbit hole.
Enjoy!
