Summary

Poitiers was in the past, but it changed the life of Sir John Hawkwood, for he gained his spurs and that was another step on his journey. Once he realised that he had more ambition than just to serve the king of England, he joined forces with Albert Sterz and formed a company of mercenaries who hired out their swords. Fighting for the king of England against Burgundy, they gained a reputation which made others both fear and hate them in equal measure. When Sir John is robbed of his fortune by the murder of his banker, then he had an enemy to pursue. He learns to become a political animal who chooses friends wisely. His enemies just proliferate with each victory. The defeats merely make him and the White Company even stronger!

CHAA-RGE! A hero story with historical accuracy

It’s great.

It’s action packed, historically accurate and doesn’t get bogged down with tedious love or ontological concerns.

It’s a war story with a hero and it’s a lot of fun!

If you want Dostoyevsky, or to be confused and miserable from your fiction then read something else.

This is WAR. It’s ARCHERS and BATTLES and A HERO and he WINS (spoiler alert).

A book for people who have difficult lives and want enjoyable fiction.

So Boring

I couldn't be bothered to endure any longer after struggling half way through .
A paste up conned from much better authors ; but leaving out the good bits ?
Read the original 'White Company' by Conan Doyle for the classic Free Company account .

just heroic fiction

If your looking for a more historically based book series, this isn't it. The history in these books are very thin.
The main character is very one dimensional and flawless, atheist by his own words.
