About this listen
All Michael Hollister wanted was death. What he got was time travel.
Convicted of murder, and with nothing left to live for, Michael commits suicide in his jail cell in 1977, then opens his eyes in 1966, in his eight-year-old body, with all memories of his previous life intact.
His first thoughts are of the dark intentions of his father. When the man who raised him once again tries to do the unthinkable, Michael has a chance to right his childhood's greatest wrong. But, can he do that without becoming a killer all over again?
Includes a special bonus note read by the author.

A quintessential redemption story.
Must read The Unusual Second Life of Thomas Weaver first. Michael Hollister is a real boogie man in the first Middle Falls book and it's difficult to believe that such a nasty piece of work could be redeemed and yet... This story brought me to tears at time. Very good.

Could not stop listening
Really enjoyed part 2 of this series. I was thinking this might have ended up like a cat and mouse style with Michael on the run but was pleasantly surprised. Really felt for Michael in parts of the book and to me that proves how good this is.

A surprising second instalment in this series.
This book surprised me. Michael Hollister is a major character from the first book in this series and he is definitely NOT a nice young man. The title therefore seems to be setting up a very unlikely scenario which only gets harder to credit in the early part of the book.
However as the story unfolds and wider circumstances and situations begin to have an impact things change for Michael and his perspectives and those of the reader are shifted and altered.
Again there is the strange temporal shifts. there is a new Watcher in the shadowy otherworld and there is a strong sense of more to find out.
The book is well written, but perhaps a little too simplistic about some things.
It's easy to listen to with good narration. However I didn't really believe that the character described in the first book and this Michael Hollister were the same person, or that this "redemption" was entirely credible. Maybe that's my cynicism showing. I will listen to the next in the series though as I am enjoying it

Guilty Pleasure
Having read/listened the first in the series and really enjoyed it - I wondered how Michael Hollister could possibly find redemption.
Having a new narrated for the second book was a bit of a surprise as book one had been narrated so well, I thought. Still, as this was a different character it was no time before I was totally engrossed in the story and loving every moment but it was way to short and now I am only glad that this is but the beginning.
Too often I can see how the plot line is going to progress, this doesn't take away from the story but it is much more fun when the storyline takes a turn you're just not expecting and Shawn Inmon has been about to do this for me.
Highly recommend this series to all!!!
Now go away - I want to get on with book 3...….

Fantastic! (one mild spoiler below)
I enjoyed this so much better than the first book, which was by no means a bad book.
The narration is very good too.
I wasn't sure what to expect, because the bulk of the story being set in a military school doesn't sound very appealing to me.
But it really didn't let the story down and I came to like the characters at the school.
I hope the rest of the series lives up to the standard of book 2.
