Summary
Two cities, two ruthless criminals, three of the force’s best. One night to end it all.
An Audible exclusive, The only Truly Dead is the ultimate fight against corruption from one of our greatest Northern crime authors, Rob Parker.
The criminal underworld’s power has been gathering, with gangs from two cities that threaten to compromise everything Foley and Madison have fought for. Can these two detective masterminds take on the best of the best? Facing a highly illegal transport plan called The Twilight Express, our partners-in-arms must perform as never before.
The stakes become higher when Foley’s son is kidnapped, and he realises that his corrupt brother is involved. Along with their old colleague, Salix, and an IT whizz kid, they set out to crack this final case against the world’s most vulnerable. Everyone’s careers and families are on the line, after all. But it’s more than that – this is an ultimate fight for justice, played out between Manchester and Liverpool, that will have unpredictable and tragic consequences.
A dramatic Northern story for fans of Happy Valley, narrated by the inimitable Warren Brown.

Critic reviews
"The cherry on top of an immensely satisfying and epic trilogy. Across the three books, Rob Parker has built and broken so many lives that nobody is safe. Superb, sublime and slick action from the first line to the very last." (Robert Rutherford)
"Gritty, real and packing a killer punch. A shocking conclusion to a series that will leave reeling!" (L.C. North)

Totally brilliant
I really didn’t expect the ending!
Dynamic, thrilling, brutal and completely exhausting. Fantastic narration and a dark story with so many twists and turns. I’ve ‘binge listened’ to all three novels so I need to lie down in a darkened room ……….

Great trilogy
Narrator is perfect, was hooked from start to finish. All three books in the series are great. Subtle realistic references to Liverpool and Manchester made the story believable. 5 star.

Sad it is the end of the series, but what an end!
It is a bittersweet feeling to so eagerly dig into the final part of the excellent trilogy you have been waiting for, knowing that it is going to be the last. But I jumped (almost!) straight in and completed it over 2 sittings within 24 hours. It is a compelling, unstoppable force that, if you have been lucky enough to read and enjoy the first 2 instalments (if you haven't, you will be doing yourself a huge favour if you do!) you will be glad to hear, it is up there at the same brilliant level.
Iona is still front and centre of the Warrington police department, while also being under investigation for certain events in the previous book and prepping for her first professional fight. Brendan is trying to pick up the pieces of his life, with his sole aim at the moment being to get his family back together, but when Iona gets in touch with a problem that could use his knowledge, he sees it as one last job, then he is out... for good.
This is a great ending to what has been a superb series. A gritty look at the crime underworld between two towns, but at the heart of it, a devoted family man who is trying to do his best for everyone, despite having loyalties on both sides. And I am honestly sorry if you felt your ears burning as I got to the end Rob, as I did shout a few choice words!!
Highly recommend, the entire series that is, if you are in the mood for a dark, northern crime drama. And, not to take anything away from the writing, but Warren Brown's narration is just perfect. I know I am a bit biased being a northerner enjoying a proper northern narration, but I am going to be starting a petition soon for him just to narrate every book!

You simply MUST read all 3 books ...
Really gripping storyline cleverly written so each book can either stand alone or be read immediately one after another. I was so hooked that I listened to a complete book every day for 3 consecutive days.
Great narration too, including frequent accurate changes of dialect.
I thoroughly recommend this trilogy by Rob Parker.
