"Just let go."
Another languid narration by Lawrence Block of book five in his excellent short story series, the Matt Scherer Mysteries. Scherer isn't a recognised P.I. but an ex-cop who resigned from the force and also left his family and home after accidentally shooting a young girl. He'll sometimes do investigating favours for people, for cash. But when the head of an hospice asked him.to look into the apparently early deaths of some of the patients, Matt takes on the investigation for free.
I love these short stories which are simultaneously slow moving yet solidly packed. And the author performs them perfectly.
My thanks to Audible for making this book free to read in it's Audible + programme.

Very short
The author isn't great at doing voices, but I got used to it. Other than that it was good but surprisingly brief.

a bit of a nothing story
Not sure what the point of this story was. It didn't seem to go anywhere or say anything.
