Summary

Librarian-spy Irene's assistant has been kidnapped by the Fae – a fairy faction who will stop at nothing to cause utter chaos. The Masked City is the second entry in the Invisible Library series from Genevieve Cogman.

Irene is working undercover when disaster strikes. Her assistant, Kai, is snatched away by the dangerous Fae faction, unveiling his secret identity. Kai is a dragon prince – with this act of aggression, the Fae are determined to trigger a war that will hurl all dimensions into havoc.

With the stakes higher than ever before, Irene must navigate a treacherous path into the heart of enemy territory – a dark, alternate Venice under the grim control of the Fae. To prevent the Fae from triggering armageddon, she must find and rescue Kai. She will be forced to blackmail, fight and make an unlikely alliance – or face death . . .

This book also includes a extra, bonus section – with fascinating insights into the library's intricate spy network.

Continue this enthralling journey with The Burning Page, the third book in the series that takes the adventure to new, fiery heights.

Better than the first book

This book is even better than the first book. The world building makes more sense, for one thing. I thought this would be the last book I read in the series, but now I’m rather tempted to read the third.

An excellent sequel

The first book caught my interest and I’m very pleased that this second book was excellent. I enjoyed the merge of of the plot with more well know folk tales.

The 2nd book in the series, I thoroughly enjoyed it. New interesting characters and some of the previous ones too.

Great story concept and an enjoyable listen

Really like the story, it’s unique! I enjoy the heroine’s resourcefulness.
Slightly more detail for the ending would have been good, I guess I’m waiting for the next read to find out!

Edge of your seat.

This is my second book in this series. It had everything one needed to keep you on the edge of your seat while listening.

Great story, exciting narration

I have to admit, the more I listen the deeper I get.
Somehow I feel as if I’m actually there with just enough description needed to paint the picture and a hint of humour to settle it all.
Some characters are sketchy but as in life you don’t see everyone at once and the characters you need to know are well defined with a hint of deeper depths
Special mention to the narrator who really brings things to life

Okay but not brilliant.

This is the second book in the series - I was suitably intrigued after the first one to read this one. However, I still had the impression that the writing is very simple and the narrator came across like she was reading to children. I don't think I will go for the next book in the series.

Love this series of books.

Really enjoy these books, immersive and gripping.
Although, I can’t see the Fae ever taking on a dragon in true form!
