About this listen
The mask she wears for the world is flawless.
But I want the mess that she hides underneath.
Samantha Harper is untouchable.
She's the closest thing we have to royalty in my small town.
Daughter of a senator.
Richer than sin.
Classy, elegant, and Ice cold.
She's my polar opposite.
And unfortunately, She's exactly my type.
Too bad royalty doesn't fraternize with peasants.
Until one night, Samantha Harper finds herself at my mercy, and the temptation to dirty up her flawless façade is too great.
When her perfect mask slips, It's not an ice princess I find beneath, But a warrior in war-torn armor.
A snake in queen's clothing.
All it takes is one night, and I'm determined.
She will never have to fight another battle alone.
***The Love You Fight For is the third book in the Next Life world.
It has a guaranteed HEA.
While The Love You Fight For can be enjoyed as a standalone, it is recommended that you first listen to the Next Life duet to fully appreciate the story.

4.5 Stars!
Sam and Chris’ story was just chef’s kiss! 💋
Thanks to the author, Brit Benson, and the team at HomeCooked Books for providing me with an advanced audio review copy of this book. All opinions provided in this review are my own.
The Love You Fight For is book 3 in the “Next Life” Series. It is a standalone, but it is still recommended to read the books in order. However, I didn’t. In fact, I haven’t read the first 2 books in the series, and I did not find myself lost whilst reading this book. I was able to follow along just fine.
The Love You Fight For follows our FMC Samatha Harper, and our MMC Chris Casper. To the outside world Sam’s life is perfect. She is seen to be living the dream, and is viewed in their small-town as royalty; Her father is a state senator, she is wealthy, and lives a posh lifestyle. However, underneath the surface and the glitz and glam, lies a darker, and more painful past. She holds her secrets close to her, not letting anyone in close, not even her best friend. She has been through so much, yet is so strong, as she prepares for one of the biggest moments of her life; her father is seeking to further his political career but Samatha has other plans for him. Meanwhile, Chris is the patient, loving, and handsome perfect match for Sam. He would do anything for her and I just love how thoughtful he is towards her.
Without giving too much away, I really enjoyed this book. It dealt with some serious topics, whilst still managing to be entertaining, fun, and romantic. In fact, the romance was just so swoon! 💕
Narration done by Desiree Ketchum and Austin Stone, they both captured Sam and Chris perfectly. Their performances were just 🤌 💋 🔥 The emotions were all there, and it was so beautiful to listen to. Overall, they brought the characters and the story to life wonderfully.

So good!
Brit Benson has done it again. An absolute masterpiece that will have you feeling all of the emotions!
I absolutely adore these two. Sam is an absolute baddie. A warrior princess, as Chris puts it so fittingly. She's that strong female character that you can't help but love because she's been through it and come out the other side a force to be reckoned with. And then there's Chris. He's so much softer than I thought he'd be, and I love that. It always gets me when the guy with the hard looking exterior is an absolute cinnamon roll. They are opposite and for each other perfectly.
And then there's the plot. It will have you wanting to devour this book in one sitting so you can see it all come to a head. It's so, so worth letting yourself do so because it ends so satisfying! Highly suggest just setting the time aside to dive in fully.
After reading this one, I also listened to it on audiobook, and it was like being introduced to these characters all over again. Desiree Ketchum and Austin Stone did a wonderful job on this duet narration and really brought these characters to life. Duet narration is quickly becoming my favorite for the realistic feel that you get listening to it, and this one hits that out of the park! Highly suggest giving this one a listen, even if you read the physical book.

The narrators voiced each character really well
I lovee the Next Life series by Brit. She has such complex characters who go through so much development and Sam in particular, is no different.
I really liked the narrators for this audio. Whilst I definitely struggle to listen to any audio at 1x speed, listening to this at 1.2x-1.5x speed felt perfect. I liked how they were able to change up their voices for different characters, to show their distinctions, too

"The Love You Fight For" by Brit Benson is a gripping, emotional rollercoaster that had me hooked from the start. Even though I didn't read the original duet, Brit Benson does a fantastic job of weaving in just enough background to keep me in the loop without making it feel like a rehash for those familiar with the earlier books. While some reviewers suggest reading those first for a richer experience, I didn't feel lost at all.
Chris is the ultimate book boyfriend—a strong cinnamon roll who can cook and does AMAZING things with his tongue. He’s tattooed, pierced (in all right places ;) ), and ready to give everything to win over Sam, our fierce FMC with serious black cat energy. Sam appears as a strong, ice queen on the outside, but inside, she's lonely and a bit broken. Watching Chris break down her walls with his actions and words to give her something she’s never had—a true, loving relationship—is both heartwarming and intense.
The opposites-attract dynamic between Chris and Sam is electric. Chris’s cinnamon roll sweetness mixed with his dark, sultry edge makes him irresistible. And Sam? She’s a badass, someone you'd love to grab a beer with. Their journey to a happy ever after is filled with dark, emotional moments balanced with light, heartfelt scenes. The cabin on a lake setting provided the perfect backdrop for their story, adding a touch of serene beauty to their intense romance.
The narration was TOP NOTCH from both of them. Desiree Ketchum is yet to deliver a bad performance that I've heard - her ability to embody her characters are incredible and I always love her pace and acting choices. Austin Stone was new to me and oh. my. word. did he SMASH this out of the park! His ability to switch from light and airy to gravelly and sultry was perfect, bringing Chris and Sam's story to life in the most vivid way. His social media interactions are just as refreshing and engaging as his narration.

Gritty and raw, with a happy ending
This book was so amazing and quite different from the Next Life duet. The romance in this is less tumultuous, and there was a greater focus on the subplot involving Sam's father. The revenge plot is so good! This can be read as a standalone, but it’s best to read The Next Life duet first (The Love of My Next Life and This Life and All the Rest). We get to see a bit of Sam and Chris’s backstories and start to connect with the characters in that duet.
Why you’ll love this book
• Strong female main character
• Cinamon roll MMC
• Secrets and betrayal
• Revenge plot
• Opposites attract
• He falls first
Sam is such a strong woman but she’s deeply misunderstood. To the world, she’s a spoiled little rich kid who doesn’t care about anyone. We come to find out what happened in her childhood that made her create this ice-cold exterior. I love that Chris doesn’t hesitate to call her out on her crap. He’s exactly what she needs. He sees her for who she truly is, flaws and all, and loves her wholeheartedly. He’s patient but persistent. He’s thoughtful, he supports her and he helps her heal.
The narration was done in duet style by Austin Stone and Desiree Ketchum and it was excellent. Austin’s southern drawl makes the spicy scenes hot as hell and the sweet moments so swoony. Desiree does a really good job with her portrayal of a strong, misunderstood Samantha.
This book is gritty and raw and so engaging. Be prepared to feel all the feelings.
This book discusses heavy topics so check the trigger warnings.
I received an early copy from Homecooked Books and this is my honest review.

Amazing book and series!
Brit Benson quickly rose to my favorites list after the first two books in this series. This one features Sam and Chris and I was a bit hesitant to hear this one. While Sam turned into a fairly good person in the books, I just wasn't sure if I was going to like her story. So I delve in, and I couldn't stop listening. Not only because Chris is the guy around, but because there is so much more to Sam than I could have imagined. This just goes to show that it's impossible to know a person unless you walk in their shoes. Sam proves that no matter her circumstances, she was going to overcome. And with Chris by her side, she was that much stronger. There is a lot to this one, from family betrayals and secrets to finding that one true north to keep you on track. Give this one a listen too.(Yes, you have to get the first two, they are too good to miss), you will thank me later.
Desiree Ketchum is phenomenal as Sam. She is a complex character with so much going on in her life. Ketchum works through each scene with the precise feelings that Sam had, and I was in pain with her, and in passion. This is my first Austin Stone listen and as Chris he is exquisite. All the feels this man had, all the questions and love all coming out in his voice. These two made and excellent team and their performance impeccable.

Emotional
What an emotional story.
Samantha seems like an emotionless elite, she has curated her blasé attitude. But her mask can only hide so much, and Chris might just be the crack in her facade.
There is so much push and pull, an openness that gets walled back off, and determination to not just take things at face value.
Chris fights hard for Samantha, he is there for her, open for her, and a safe place to land.
He is just what you want in a book boyfriend.
This story was wonderful, and full of passion.
The duet narration was amazing.

Riveting Listening
I went into this audiobook blind. No reading the previous books, no idea about the characters—their personalities, their background—no, nothing. And while I did have questions about certain things (mainly about what I assume happened in the other two books), I didn't feel lost.
Desireé and Austin did a wonderful job narrating Sam and Chris's story.
It was an enjoyable listen with plenty of emotion—some nice, some nasty—steam, and was riveting...I devoured this book in one sitting.
Sam was a boss babe. The things she experienced, the actions she endured, the revenge she reaped...it was all so perfectly planned, I'm in awe.
Chris was such a sweetheart. His dedication to his family—his support for them and Sam (despite their differences)—was so heartwarming.
If you decide to take a chance on an audiobook, this one will not disappoint, it will turn you inside out but leave you with all the warm fuzzies.

Wonderful casting for an amazing story
Audiobook review: Narrated by Desiree Ketchum and Aiden Snow
Five stars all around for this one. While we've met both Sam and Chris in books one and two, this story brings so much more to each of these characters. Sam had a troubled past and a history of drug use in high school, but we now know her history is much darker than originally believed. To say this woman has her redemption arc in this story is a gross understatement. She has got to be one of the strongest, most determined female main characters I've ever read. Chris is the definition of a non-toxic masculine main character. The way he silently supports Sam NO MATTER WHAT makes him one of my favorite MMCs ever. This is a powerful story and I suggest checking content warnings as there are sensitive topics that come up. If you are able to read and/or listen to this book though, I highly recommend it!
The audio aspect of this book was so well done it was easy to get lost in the story. Every emotion was brought to life in a beautiful way, and I have nothing bad to say about either of these narrators. The duet style is always a huge pro for me and to hear both Desiree Ketchum and Aiden Snow playing off each other was a great listening experience.

Breathtakingly captivating!
This book is part of the Next Life World. I liked the first books in the series (Macon and Lennon's story), and this is a great addition to the series. I highly recommend to listen to the duet before this one. Chris and Samanta/Sam's story is breathtakingly captivating, emotional, and engaging, filled with secrets, family drama, and twists and turns. Sam is enigmatic, strong, smart, and determined. My heart broke for her. Chris is such a great man, handsome, supportive, and protective. They are polar opposites, and they are perfect together. Their story is intricate and enthralling. Desireé Ketchum and Austin Stone did an outstanding job bringing this story to life. They are perfect as Sam and Chris. I enjoyed it.
