About this listen
Once every 1,000 years, a great adventure comes along. This is the blockbuster historical thriller from bestselling author James Patterson.
Freedom - in eleventh-century France, it is a luxury enjoyed by only the King and nobility. For the serf, it is surely worth fighting for. But is it worth dying for? Arriving home disillusioned from the Crusades, Hugh DeLuc discovers his village has been ransacked and his wife abducted. The dark riders came in the dead of night, like devils, wearing no colours but black crosses on their chests. They search for a relic, one worth more than any throne in Europe, and no man can stand in their way. Until Hugh, taking on the role of a jester, is able to infiltrate the enemy's castle where he believes his wife is being held captive. And when a man is fighting for freedom - for his wife, and for everything he holds dear - he will prove a formidable opponent.
With the unstoppable pace of a page-turning thriller, The Jester is a breathtaking, pulse-pounding adventure. No one who has ever hoped for good to defeat evil or for love to conquer all will be able to put down this masterful novel.

An incredible story that just gets better an better. Can’t recommend The Jester enough if you’re a fan of a historical story about an underdog that does the unthinkable against all odds.

Written brilliantly , historical fact with an amazing adventure
Be transported to France in the time of the Crusades. Realise anyone with a cross was not often what they seem. An ancient relic underpins this great adventure with one person after another killed in a violent manner to get it. Our hero Luke loses his beloved wife and new born son before he realises what he has. You can smell the fires you can live the lives of Luke and his friends whilst they ensure justice. Not the law. The writing gives vivid images in a fast paced twisting and exciting journey. Don't miss this one. Steve L

Good story, not so good narration.
The storyline is fairly good. Different from other stuff I have read which was good. Although I found that the author stated the obvious a lot!
I didn't enjoy the narration either.
