Summary

The Invisible Lion is a deeply personal and insightful exploration of how our human experience is shaped by our nervous system's response to trauma, and how we can tame our nervous system and heal our trauma to improve our happiness, health, and relationships.

Drawing from his own experiences of childhood trauma, breakdown and recovery, the author – psychotherapist and founder of Khiron Clinics, a world-leading residential trauma clinic – introduces a powerful analogy to help his clients understand the complex nature of trauma and its effects on our lives.

He paints a picture of someone running through life in a state of fear, anxiety and depression, feeling powerless to stop their apparently irrational reactions to everyday situations and people, appearing "crazy" to themselves and those around them – until the invisible lion that's been chasing them is finally seen. At that moment, everything begins to make sense.

The Invisible Lion offers readers a new lens through which to view their own struggles while also demystifying mental health challenges. It provides tools and understanding to help people identify and address their own invisible lions, and heal from their trauma, fostering a more compassionate and supportive world.

revolutionary

a clearly set out theory and practical guide to understanding why we live in fearful reaction and how to learn to calmly respond instead. it gathers together so many of the ideas of the moment around body work, the nervous system, mindfulness, and trauma into a clear and very simple model. but best of all it offers a practical way of applying this to ourselves and hope for us all to escape suffering.

fantastic !****

absolutely fantastic! it makes the complexity of it all so glaringly obvious and easy to understand. the narration is perfect and more importantly real, in that the nuances of pitch make it more natural and easy to listen to, just like a conversation.

Must read for literally everyone

If everyone read this book and applied its teachings, the world would change radically! I am a parenting coach and learning about the nervous system for my own wellbeing and that of my clients. Although the way it is written could seem a bit simplistic for people who already gave a grasp of some of this science, the great thing about it is that it's accessible to anyone and profoundly life-changing if you truly take it on board. I am already recommending this book to my clients.

Life-changing book

I could not stop listening to this book. It all made so much sense and I like understanding the biological side, rather than trauma and victim language. This will change my life and I am very grateful. I will read again and work through the workbook. Highly recommend. If I had the money I would buy it for all my friends and family!
