This story is extremely difficult
This story is extremely heartbreaking and I don’t think much comes close to it. TW for violence, SA, domestic violence and more.
This is a very detailed and very factual account of the lives of Louise and David Turpin, as well as their 13 children.
Due to this, I felt it was a bit emotional detached.
Obviously, it is hard to rate a book that covers such a deep and tragic story but I think it is important to connect emotionally, it is why I always lean towards a memoir.
All in all, a great and well researched book.

Good but also not
The information in this book is very good, it gives a lot and it gives it a very informative way, however it’s very repetitive, I think every piece of information was delivered in the same way twice, so , overall I would recommend this book , I read til the end

Shocking story....expressionless delivery
This sad true story is very thoroughly explored.
It looks at the influence of the parents own families and their own disturbed childhoods. This gives some insight into how their neglect, abuse and indoctrination of the 13 children evolved .
It is a fascinating yet distressing story.
However, I found the narration almost intolerably monotonous.

Agree with others - same story twice
Excellent narration (for me). Fascinating, if heartbreaking story, but all the key details are delivered twice, almost word for word. Would still recommend, particularly as a cautionary tale to remind people that if things don’t seem right with children, concerns should be reported.

Could have been better
Although the story was good it was extremely annoying listening to the narrator. sounded like a robot. Was hard to get into and keep listening.
This would have been a 5 star listen but needs someone else to read and perform.

Interesting & Heartbreaking
The story is well-written and thought out. However, the narration is very difficult to listen to for 8hours. The narrator's tone of voice is strong and well-spoken. The negative is he fluctuates at the end of every sentence. EVERY SENTENCE. Small or large. It's the same pattern. It was incredibly distracting and hard to concentrate on what he was saying, instead only noticing the way he was speaking. Again, I cannot fault the story or way it was written. I highly recommend reading this book and avoiding this audiobook.
