About this listen
Retired actress Guinevere 'Gwinny' Tuffel is finding life hard after inheriting her late father's run-down house and discovering she's broke. But Gwinny is delighted to be at Hayburn Stead for her best friend Tina's wedding to a handsome Italian business magnate. However, before they get the chance to declare 'till death do us part', the husband-to-be is found dead in the library and Tina is accused of his murder.
Convinced of her friend's innocence, Gwinny must uncover the real killer from a pool of larger-than-life suspects, while also suddenly finding herself looking after Tina's expensive and demanding saluki dogs...

Great story easy listen
I really like Nicolette mckenzies narration style so chose this on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. Great characters, nice easy listen although I guessed the murder pretty early on! Still made a great listen and looking forward to the next instalment!

Great book - kept us enthralled!
Great narration of a really good story. Kept us transfixed during our recent road trip. I hope there’ll be a sequel, or a series!

Excellently performed narration.
Nicolette McKenzie raises this pleasant, cosy crime story to a highly engaging drama. Her characterisations are really well delineated and she performs the entire book, rather than simply reading it, in a thoroughly engaging way. Some narrators simply read the words, but Miss McKenzie gives them life, which is great skill. She is gifted with a voice that is very easy on the ear. I shall certainly be listening to more of her work.

Tedious
Harmless but generated no intrigue, just the endless "could be this, or could be that" dialogue of the main character. No depth to the characters. Pleasantly narrated but that wasn't enough to save the book for me Nice enough to fall asleep to, without having to worry you might miss something.
