About this listen

In this exciting sequel to the acclaimed Dead I Well May Be, the mercenary Michael Forsythe is forced to infiltrate an Irish terrorist cell, confronting murder, mayhem, and the prospect of his own execution.

Michael is on holiday in Spain when a soccer riot between the Paddies and the Brits escalates out of control and he winds up in a Spanish prison. Enter Samantha, a beautiful British Intelligence agent. She makes Michael an offer he can't refuse: instead of extradition to Mexico to serve time for a prison break, he can infiltrate an IRA sleeper cell in the United States. Thrust into the nightmare world of men known for their distinctive brands of torture and revenge, Michael crosses and double-crosses key players, narrowly escapes his own lies, loses his only ally, and falls for the daughter of his enemy.

Finally, someone who can write!

So many contemporary writers seem to pass along with dreary pedestrian writing styles (I know that is a generalisation) but here is someone who stands out as truly talented. The stories are great, but his distinctive vibrant use of language is glorious!
I wish there were a hundred more of his books as I would devour them all.

Gripping

Such an exciting story and really well narrated. I don’t normally choose books with such a high level of violence but this so well written it was hard to put it down ( or rather stop listening to it). It’s not all blood and guts though- at times it is rather poetic and funny too. And you can’t help liking the main character. Can’t wait to find out more about Michael’s future exploits!

Brilliant!

Really enjoyed this and the previous book, his downfall are the beautiful girls, he’s a bit of a James Bond without the finesse but with the Irish charm.

Great follow up, brilliant narration

Great follow up, can't wait to start the final volume.
The combination of a brilliant story and narration makes this my favourite read & listen this year. Can't wait to find out how the trilogy ends, my guess is not well for Michael..

McKinty at his best

Tight, tense and brutal. Impossible situations overcome. Violent action in the name of right. Brilliant

Bloody excellent

Despite having read the next book before this, I didn't feel like plots were spoiled. The other characters kept me wondering enough.
I love this narrator and everything he reads!

Great narration and ploy

The whole trilogy is definately worth a read, the narrator is excellent and the content and the pace of the book I found gripping. It is not a book for the faint hearted and there is lots of detailed violence throughout.
