About this listen
The gripping thriller from the Top Ten Sunday Times bestselling author, shortlisted for the Irish Crime Book Awards
Rumours…
Everyone’s heard the rumours about elite gentlemen’s clubs, where the champagne flows freely, the parties are outrageous…and what goes on behind closed doors is darker than you could possibly imagine.
Scandals…
Paige Hargreaves was a young journalist working on a story about a club for the most privileged men in London. She was on the brink of exposing a shocking scandal. Then she disappeared.
Secrets…
DS Maeve Kerrigan must immerse herself in the club’s world of wealth, luxury and ruthless behaviour to find out what happened. But Maeve is keeping secrets of her own. Will she uncover the truth? Or will time run out for Maeve first?

A fantastic series
I have now read the whole series and preordered the next one, I have enjoyed them immensely, the character development, the plot the twists. This is latest and although stand alone I recommend you read them all. I found I could not stop listening and found myself listening with AirPods whilst my husband slept. I was unsure that all the procedures were accurate but it’s a novel. Great narration lovely to listen to you will not be disappointed especially riveting is the relationship between Maeve and Josh and the true to life ‘bitchiness’ of the office. The one thing I found is sometimes Maeve is too nice and I wanted her to fight back verbally.

Wow!
This is my first book by this author and I’m delighted there is a long series to enjoy. The narrator is excellent too. The book deals with violence against women in different situations. In other hands this could have been laboured, gratuitous or even exploitative. The handling of the various storylines is brilliant - sensitive, empathetic and forensic. The characters are so convincing and the world is really credible. I may have to go straight to the next one in the series or start at the beginning…

left wanting more.
This is by far one of my favourite series. I'm eager for the next book to be released, and hopefully it'll finally get to the conclusion we've all been waiting for. Waiting, I'm good at that.

Loved this book and the whole series. The narrator is one of my favourites too. Could listen to her narrate the phone book. Highly recommend all round.

6* book!
I love this series and this is the best yet, I hope there will be another book.
Get me! With the lexicon of words at my disposal I chose such a seemingly prosaic one as “love”. This book needs no hyperbole nor advertising hype, it literally speaks for itself. It’s beautifully written, with a mix of the mundane, suspense, humour, (which is very much like my own), no spoilers, but the “bamboo” made me laugh it was so perfect at that point, and I think the whole book is like that. The characters and relationships are real! And I’ll miss them.
I find myself veering between, tension, hope, sadness’s, holding my breath and smiling! For me, it’s that good.
The combination of Jane Casey, as author, and the superb narration by Caroline Lennon, is a marriage made in audiobook heaven.
I loved it! I dislike recommending books to friends as everyone has different taste. I await the next instalment.

Devistedated the series I finished !
What an amazing series. From the storyline to the narrator . Spectacular. As I finished one book I immediately started on the next ‘Binge reading ‘. The words were enough to bring out all my emotions from fear to laughter and sorrow. I hope there is another book in the pipeline 🙏well done Jane Casey. Now my favourite crime writer 👏👏

Excellent
Another fantastic episode in this series. They are not churned out like many other detective series but are well-crafted with the same great characters, Maeve and Josh solving complex cases intertwined with their personal growth and challenges. Despite the grimness of some of the cases, Maeve is a delight and Caroline Lennon’s narration is exactly right. I am going to start at the beginning and listen to the whole series again.
