About this listen
Dark Adventure Radio Theatre: The Lurking Fear brings to life H.P. Lovecraft's tale of a lingering supernatural horror in a 1930s-style radio drama. Dark Adventure Radio Theatre presents the tale with a huge cast of professional actors, exciting sound effects, and thrilling original music by Troy Sterling Nies. It’s like movies you can enjoy with your eyes closed.
A student of Native American lore investigates Yig - the shadowy snake god of an extinct tribe of the Great Plains. His investigation uncovers an account from 1889 of settlers homesteading in the Indian Territories of Oklahoma. A pervasive fear of snakes nudges a simple settler towards madness. Are his fears of the dreaded snake god's curse just the result of hearing old stories, or is a new story unfolding as Yig's curse takes hold?

Natives, snakes and gods
A good reason not to kill animals without serious cause. Enough said, I will spoil no more.

Not the best
This particular adaptation is a little dull.
Nothing happens for over half the run time; I understand setup and payoff, but I can also recognise wheel spinning.
While none of it is bad, it’s just overall not very gripping up until the very end.
