About this listen

Nothing's too much trouble - until a body turns up . . .

I suppose it would be fitting to explain that I am talking into a dictaphone and the lovely Helen will be typing out my story for you to listen to. . . This is my account of the Cavengreen Hotel murder. Best we get that bit in early on.

The peaceful setting of Cavengreen Hotel has been shattered by a shocking murder. The killer could be anyone, but when once-trusted concierge Hector Harrow finds himself accused of the crime, he turns detective in order to clear his name. Could the real perpetrator be a member of the bridal party who were staying at the hotel? Or the hotel manager, perhaps? Or maybe its brash new owners, who were also visiting at the time of the incident?

As suspicions fall on guests and staff alike, Hector must navigate a web of secrets to uncover the truth . . .

For fans of Janice Hallett, Richard Osman and Nita Prose, The Concierge tells the story of a man whose job it is to deal with everything life throws at him. Even death.

Such a brilliant concept, with more than one twist

I listened to this whole book in one day, as it was too good to not finish.
Such a genius concept for a book. The writing is so clever, and becomes even more enjoyable when paired with narration by the always incredible Jonathan Keeble, whose talent for accents never ceases to amaze me.
If this is a debut novel, I cannot wait to see what comes next! A very well deserved 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Not for me…

Sorry but I returned this book. I have listened to the narrator, Jonathan Keeble, in other books and found him to be easy to listen to and good with characters, here I just didn’t. It felt like Alan Bennet was trying to intervene! The story itself felt slow and contrived and I really did try to listen well but when you realise you’ve almost zoned out you know it’s not for you.
I appreciate Audible's system for returning a listen so I did!
This is just one opinion though, it may well be I’ve missed something, I hope you find what I missed.
