About this listen

The newly discovered novel from multi-million-selling author Joy Ellis. Never-before published!

THREE NICE PEOPLE. THREE TERRIBLE CRIMES. WHAT MADE THEM DO THESE AWFUL THINGS?

It’s the night shift worker who finds them. Huddled in a hospital store cupboard is elderly Edith Higgins. Knifed to death. Sitting behind her is Staff Nurse Lily Frampton, a scalpel clasped in her blood-soaked hand.

No one can understand why this kind-hearted, dedicated nurse would brutally murder a frail patient she’s spent months caring for.

That same day, mild-mannered schoolteacher Rod Black is found surrounded by the battered bodies of his pupils. Why would a well-respected teacher beat five schoolboys to death?

Then a third shocking — and equally inexplicable — incident takes place in a London homeless shelter.

Thought this was fab! Not quite as good as the first book and thought it ended rather abruptly but I’d still love more please

Very enjoyable story… poor narration

Really enjoyed this book. A good twist of supernatural and serial killer. I’m afraid I found the narrator very monotonous and lacking any effort at voice characterisation; she just sounded as if she was bored stiff and couldn’t wait to fulfill her contractual obligation. Pity as they are some fantastic narrators out there.

Great listening.

I have really enjoyed this series and as with Joy’s other series would love some more. I could see as I read the developments that are now being shown in her subsequent books.

Brilliant

Mesmerising story. I was locked into the story and it's characters from start to finish. Excellent narration. Smooth and captivating. I do hope the Ellie McEwan series will be longer than just 2 books. All the main characters still have a lot of experiences to go through and it would be good to accompany them on their journeys.

Loved the mix, Magic and Police work

I loved this book and the one before. The mix of a little 'magic' and police story worked really well.
I love all her books and hope she has the inclination to pick this series back up. 5*

The main characters are crafted with care and love. It’s a story full of mystery and intrigue.

As engaging and mystical as the fist book. Sad that it ended here. Could have gone a long way.
