About this listen

An unknown invader - code name GRAY WOLF - commandeers a nuclear missile silo in North Dakota and threatens to launch a Minuteman III ICBM. The President's only containment option is to obliterate the Midwest's nuclear arsenal at a cost of millions of civilian lives.

Across the country in Key West, the world-renowned forensic sleuth Dr. Elliott Sumner is pulled into the international crisis moments after he spots a serial killer he put away for life. Elliott gets the call to examine hideously mutilated corpses found frozen solid in the wilderness. The macabre blood trail is the only way to identify GRAY WOLF, and give the President more options.

Setting aside a life-threatening condition, Sumner goes to North Dakota. Can Elliott solve the grisly international forensic puzzle, or will time run out? Can the launch of a rogue Minuteman III missile into the world be averted, or is a nuclear Armageddon the only outcome for the unimaginable terminal breach?

I enjoyed this a lot

I liked this audiobook. The story incorporates a lot of action, yet flows smoothly. The narrator was well-suited to the story and its characters. I would definitely recommend this to others who enjoy a good action with a clever plot voiced by a talented narrator.

Fast paced thriller

A fast paced thriller with a reluctant hero. Really good narrator and a story that is well explained and keeps you wanting to carry on. There is a lot of information but is explained well and this book held my interest.

Action Packed Thriller

An action packed thriller, wonderfully narrated by Holly Palance. Terminal Breach is a story about the threat of nuclear attack which would destroy a third of America and lead to World War Three, the protagonist is called Grey Wolf. Bodies killed in a most macabre way are recovered across the world. They are connected in some way to Grey Wolf and it is imperative to identify them. Elliot Sumner a renowned international forensic investigator is called upon by the President to assist in identifying the killer, he agrees despite the threat to his own health. This is a rollercoaster of a book, full of intrigue, I could see the action scenes in my minds eye - it would make an amazing film.

a fast paced intriguing tale

A fast paced intriguing take of a threat again the nuclear weapons of the USA. This story is narrated beautifully at just the right pace.. the accents are good, even the British one isn't bad..
The story kept me hooked and I did not guess the ending.
My only criticism is there is quite few mnemonics which I found hard to keep up with.
Overall a very enjoyable listen..

Wow

I’m not mean with my stars, I rarely go below 4, but this 1 though I can only go to 5 would’ve got more. I loved the pace of the story & narration. It’s got a good amount of nail biting scenes in with the day to day scenes.
Good characters & a pace I really enjoy with a good bite of mayhem! Who doesn’t love a bit mayhem to keep you hooked.
Narrator was great & it’s a def listen to from me.

Cross-genre, packed, thrill ride

I really loved this cross-genre thriller novel, with brilliant narration.
It's an eclectic mix of political technothriller and serial killer/ forensic "detective" hunt down and capture, as we follow reluctant hero Dr Elliot Sumner to North Dakota on the trail initially of a serial killer with a very particular method of killing. We do find out why during the course of the story, and boy, does this book go places you would not think of! From this seemingly straightforward crime story, we barrel into a terrorist plot to steal the ability to and set off nuclear warheads to start the next world war.
An intelligent plot (some of the jargon was extensive but explained reasonably well), which wasn't preachy and very gripping, so devoured in 2 four and five hour slots, as I really wanted to know what happened next. The various characters were interesting, especially our main protagonist, and as I understand has a history detailed in 3 previous novels (of which I will definitely be reading), and we get a great insight into his life and thoughts and feelings. The subsidiary players were pretty well rounded too.
One very slightly poor point was the ending seemed rushed. We got a clear conclusion, but it was very quickly over and only a small epilogue explaining the aftermath. A small niggle though.
The narration was superb, by Holly Palance, who as you'd expect from that lineage and an accomplished actor herself, meant we got great pacing, intonation and characterisation.

Fast paced thriller

Strap yourself in tight for this one. It is an action packed rollercoaster ride thriller about a ‘terminal breach’, a nuclear attack that could destroy a parts of the USA and also lead to World War 3. But the book also centres on renowned forensic investigator/serial killer hunter, Elliot Sumner, who is called in to investigate several bodies which are discovered in bizarre circumstances. Could the two things be connected?

The book is fast paced and there is so much going on that at times I did get a bit confused, but it’s one hell of a story, and quite frightening when you think that something like this really could happen one day! The locations are described so well that you feel you are there, especially those frozen landscapes of North Dakota. The characters are well developed, and you feel as though you really know each one. I understand that there are several previous books also featuring Elliot Sumner, but this one reads perfectly well as a standalone, though I will now be seeking out the other books to read.

I can really see this book as a movie on the big screen.

The narration by Holly Palance (daughter of Jack Palance) was excellent
