About this listen

What was the light that mazed every mind's sky - and then was gone? Why has it brought a flying tepui mountaintop home from the stars, and sent investigators into the orbital habitats floating above Earth? How is it connected to a "living fossil" fungus of great entheogenic powers? Or to a dead madman? Or to the fate of a planet overpopulated, hypermediated, corporate dominated, and heat-gas insulated? Forces that are socially and politically polarized, both good and evil, selfless and selfish, must search for the answers to these questions - increasingly aware that whoever obtains these answers first will decide the ultimate fate of the Earth - and all humanity!

A difficult listen

Would you try another book written by Howard V. Hendrix or narrated by Joseph Scott Anthony?

The writer has spent a large amount of time investigating physics both quantum and metaphysical, he then uses them to propel the main story line forward, but in doing so spends far too much time trying to explain the theory's themselves. This may work for a physical book where a reader can stop and contemplate what they have read, but this does not work well for an audiobook where pausing / rewinding is far more tricky.

What could Howard V. Hendrix have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Pulled back from the more in-depth descriptions of the physics, and brought the separate characters together in a more cohesive way, by the end there was still only a few clues as to what joined all the strands.

What about Joseph Scott Anthony’s performance did you like?

The narrator work well with the book, and the characters were reasonably distinct.

Do you think Standing Wave needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

*Spoilers*
no, the ending became a metaphysical mess, with the actors gaining "near god like" powers. A follow-up would be impractical.
