About this listen
Requested by a frightened Lady Elisabeth Montague, Holmes and Watson travel all the way to the Montague home, situated on a remote desolate island, to investigate her somewhat fanciful fears.
Are the family in mortal danger? And why have the Montagues, once the darlings of London society, now shut themselves away from civilization in this bleak, god-forsaken retreat?
As the Montague murders begin, Holmes finds himself drawn, ever closer, to the dreaded Montague madness....

Classic Sherlock Holmes
I really enjoyed both the story and narration of this audio book and look forward to listening to my second book from the same author. The format is of that of a play rather than a story with scenes rather than chapters however, as I'm really missing the theatre through the pandemic, I let my imagination build the visuals from the information in the play. I received a free copy of this audio book at my own request and voluntarily leave this honest review.

A bit of a lite Holmes
Please note this is more of a performed script with scene sets.
It is a pretty good listen. The narrator does a fantastic job with the narration.
As a Holmes fan I find this to be a little lite.

Typical Sherlock story in the format of a play.
Not the format I expected, it was written as a play. The story was quite simple but what you would expect from a Holmes story. The narrator's voice was over blown at times that made me initially think it may be a spoof but once I had settled in I became accustomed to it. It was very much the Victorian actor's voice. Not a long story so worth listening, the ending wasn't telegraphed so it kept my interest. I also liked the novel interplay between Holmes and Watson.

Good Classic type Holmes mystery
A damsel in distress, a spooky island, family madness and murder. a classic type Holmes mystery. More of an audio drama than a book this is well performed except for the female characters who the narrator struggles with. Descent story with some twists and turns. I worked out whodunnit but it did take a little while. A distracting hour.
