Critic reviews

"The real revelation is Nicholas Briggs's performance as Holmes. Confident and assured, yet understated, and shot through with just the right amount of emotion, bravado and eccentricity, Briggs has delivered one of the definitive portrayals of the character...along with Rathbone, Brett and Lewellyn." (Mass Movement Magazine)
"From Baker Street to Devon (and Baskerville Hall), The Tangled Skein hurtles along at an unholy pace, twisting and turning it’s way to the final battle between Dracula and Holmes. Nicholas Briggs and Richard Earl are as reliable as ever as Holmes and Watson, and leap into the story with gusto and bravado...." (Mass Movement Magazine)
"The Hound is nail-bitingly exciting, as it should be, and the same can be said of The Tangled Skein, adapted by Richard Dinnick from David Stuart Davies’s sequel - which also completely rewrites the story of Dracula. For full-blooded gothic excitement this pair would be hard to beat." (The Sherlock Holmes Journal)

Good Amateur Vaudeville

Modern writing with a hint of the true Sherlock amongst it. Very different to usual recordings in that this is narrated throughout like a vaudeville production. I like these recordings and have bought he whole collection simply because of the connection to Sherlock of which I have an avid interest and collect everything recorded relating to this enigmatic character. Most Audible Full Cast Sherlocks are in my collection. This gives me an enjoyable varied collection and no two productions are the same.

These will not appeal to all Sherlock fans: personnel choice. The acting is not first rate. I found the actors still played as if they were performing an amateur production at Uni as part of their exam. Acting skills need to be much polished - very stilted and over react at times. Voice production varies from ok to totally of score. These productions need Professional actors (they probably are but they are not good).

For me, I listen and enjoy with the view that I am listening to the latest amateur dramatics giving their all on a first night. Different and I do not have any high expectations but take these plays and enjoy for what they are. I always have my other full casts.
