Summary
A magical French island. A dead contestant. An aspiring baker must clear her name before she gets burned.
Imogen Banks has dreamed her entire life of opening her own bakery in Seattle. But when she accidentally sets fire to her apartment and loses all her possessions, her dreams get toasted. Still coping with her loss, she receives a cryptic invitation she can't possibly refuse: entry into a mysterious baking competition on a beautiful French island.
When Imogen realizes the island village is magical and the Bake-Off’s participants are witches and wizards, she’s not sure her fledgling powers will be enough to win the coveted contest. In the midst of trying to cast her very first spell, a competitor drops dead, and Imogen finds the psychic judges' mystical fingers all pointing at her.
Can Imogen unlock her own magic and stop the killer from coming back for seconds, or will she jump straight from the frying pan and into the fire?
Seashells, Spells & Caramels is the first audiobook in a charming paranormal cozy mystery series. If you like funny heroines, mysterious magical communities, and quirky conspiracies, then you’ll love Erin Johnson’s perfectly witchy recipe.

A quirky book
I received this book for free in return for my honest review.
I really enjoyed this book, it's a very easy book to listen to with nothing taxing. The story is a mix-up of Great British Bake Off with bits of Harry Potter and a mystery too.
The narration is excellent, lots of difference between the characters, the songs are very sweet.
I'm looking forward to listening to the next one.

Such a good feeling story that makes you smile
I absolutely 😍😍😍 book one and two. They were funny, charming, delightful and of course magical. They are so well written and the narrator made the words come to life. I can't wait to listen to book 3. Thanks so much for sharing xx

Seashells
I enjoyed this witchy cozy mystery/romance book.Imogene was adopted so has no idea she is special until she is invited to enter a baked good contest in a magical realm. It was fun! Looking forward to book 2. Hannah Somerville was a fine narrator ,though there were a few lined repeated. I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.

Fabulous fun!
We join Imogen at the start of her magical adventures, it starts with an entry into a baking competition where she discovers that she is a witch. Magic, murder and mayhem ensue. Having read all the books it was a joy to listen to the first instalment and Hannah Somerville brings the story to life, her narrative brings the characters alive and the listener is swept into the story. Well worth a listen!

Great start to the series
This is a fun witchy mystery and I really enjoyed listening to it. The mystery element was quite light but it was setting up the characters and situation for the rest of the series so I didn’t mind that. It’s like a baking show with a supernatural twist. I’m looking forward to listening to the next book.

A delightful mystery!
This is a delightful mystery that is intriguing and I found myself wanting to know more.
The main character is believable, funny and engaging. Her narration by Hannah Somerville was done excellently, though some of the supporting character narrations were not my favourite.
The world created by Erin pulls from traditional ideas and blends some unique ones of her own. As a reader/listener that made me better able to visualise and follow the plot.
There are Easter egg type clues throughout the story as to who is guilty but also some twists that can throw you off the scent.

Adorable Cozy
I really liked Imogen as a character, she is spontaneous, tenacious and just very well written. In this paranormal cozy, we follow Imogen as she pursues a new life as a baker in the magical world. It's interesting that the author chooses to throw Imogen into the magical contest as a newbie at magic and that Imogen isn't just automatically pick it up. I like that we see the struggle with learning something new, instead of the usual "main character finds out they have magic/powers, becomes instant master of powers overnight"; it gives it a more realistic feel and is unique. Adorable paranormal cozy mystery... and we do end up with a murder that Imogen has a hand in solving.
The narrator gave an excellent performance. She did a really good job conveying the appropriate feelings/expressions at the appropriate time. She really helped bring out Imogen's personality as a character.

Spellbound
I really enjoyed this book! It has fantastic characters and is very charming. The narrator did an amazing job, she went at a faster pace than I am used to but I felt that it helped portray the character better plus she has an amazing singing voice that I look forward to hearing more of! This first book really has me intrigued to find out more, so I am excited and anxious to start the next book in this great series!
