About this listen

A stunning story of loss, love and the summer that changed everything from the number one best-selling author of Songs of Love and War.

1958. Celestria, the charismatic daughter of an aristocratic family, lives in Pendrift Hall, a pale stone mansion with gardens that tumble down to the Cornish sea. It is summer, and the weeks ahead hold the promise of self-discovery and the thrilling possibility of illicit love affairs.

Yet tragedy erupts in paradise when one of the family vanishes. A mysterious note is left behind with the words: ‘Forgive Me’. Soon Celestria is pulled along a trail of deception, masquerades and mirrors. It will lead her from her idyllic life on the English coast to the orange groves of Southern Italy. It will also lead her to love....

Another hit from Santa Montefiore

Yet another book I have lived listening to. I thought it a bit slow in the beginning but finally got the hang of it and loved it.

Like most of Santa Montefiore books.

Really enjoyed this as it was an easy listen, which was just what I wanted at the time.

Great mystery and romance

A very slow beginning turned into a marvellous mystery of intrigue and romance. I loved the way the characters were so well developed and the storyline was brought to a satisfying conclusion.

A lovely....

story with some great characters and antics within the book. The narrator was very good at using different voices for the characters.

Rather disappointing

Having read several books by this author, I found this particular story rather disappointing as the story took a long time to develop and the narration was a little disturbing!

Accents are awful.

I'd have thoroughly enjoyed this story if I hadn't constantly lost focus due to the absolutely awful accents.

Great listen!

Not my favourite book by Santa, the main characters weren’t as likeable as I’ve read in previous novels. However, the descriptions of Italy makes me want to book a holiday there! Narrator was ok but a terrible Scottish accent for Hamish. If you can get over this then I can recommend a listen.
