About this listen
From an idea by Robert Ludlum.
For Jason Bourne, forever caught between two identities - mild-mannered linguist David Webb and lethal super-spy - life can never be ordinary. But when his old mentor, Professor Spector, installs him as head of the comparative linguistics department at Georgetown University, it seems he may have found a measure of normalcy at last.
That is, until a hitherto unknown terrorist organisation comes up on Central Intelligence radar, with a plan to execute a major attack on the East Coast of the United States within a week. Without sufficient hard intelligence to back them up, and with competing intelligence organisations keen to undermine new director of Central Intelligence Veronica Hart, they have no choice but to employ a rogue agent capable of hunting down a shadowy terrorist mastermind on his own: Jason Bourne.
Suddenly, Bourne is plunged into the deadliest and most tangled operation of his double life: pursuing the head of the Black Legion - a murderous terror group with its roots in the darkest days of World War II - while his own side tries to take him down. And all the while, an assassin as brilliant and damaged as himself is getting closer by the minute.

The usual good plot and characters
The music added to dramatic scenes like the fights is nauseous and just tacky, totally put me off.

Bourne Sanction
Great story to listen to and Briliantly narrated. Lustbader doing a brill job taking over from Ludlum Akardin Bourne's nemasis is a great villan you rearly get to know him in this book and understand why he is like he is he is certainly a match for Bourne better in some ways. These stories certainly take you to many diferent places around the world Well worth the 5 stars I have given it.

Outstanding!
The narrator was cool, calm and extremely clinical. Bourne is hot, sublime and extremely, out of this world. Superb and amazing!

Disappointing
I have been enjoying the Bourne series as they have been full of action with a clearly defined plot line. The Bourne Sanction however, seems to have lost the plot. The centre section was so slow and embroiled with Russian names and accents, I lost track of who was who and who were the bad guys. Several times I almost gave up as I was bored (never before happened in a Bourne book) but I persisted and the "end game" when it came was somewhat rushed as if the author wanted to just finish it off.
Such a shame. I have the rest of the series to listen to so I hope this was just a blip. Lustbader is normally better than this and after listening to this I would say David Baldacci is winning in this genre.

The Bourne Sanction
I listened to the Bourne Sanction whilst driving home from work or just before going to bed and have to say that I struggled to establish the characters firmly in my head. I found that I had to go back and listen again to make sure I remembered which character was which but I think this was because I didn't absorb the character names easily. I also missed a book in the series and so spent sometime trying to work out what had happened to Marie, Bournes wife.
The above aside, on the whole I thought the book was well written fast paced, exciting and absorbing once I got into it. I really enjoyed the book and will be purchasing others in the series.

Does not live up to the previous Bourne books.
I was really disappointed in The Bourne Sanction. It is long winded, complicated and convoluted and quite difficult to follow. I was tempted not to finish it, but I kept hoping that it would improve. The narration was overdone.
