About this listen

Gregory’s year-long posting along the northern wilds was done. He’d had to face corrupt magi, assassination attempts, aether-using bane beasts, and even deal with the loss of some of his men. The year had left a mark on his soul. He’d accepted the burden of leadership fully, knowing that his men could and would die under his command.

He might’ve avoided all of it if he hadn’t made his moral stand, using the empire’s slave laws to force the corruption to come to light. Because he had, it threw his posting into conflict. Gregory didn’t back down when assassins— magi and non-magi alike— tried to kill him. When the town magi tried to pressure him, he used his training and walking of all three paths to not just stop them both, but to force the higher-tiered magi to bend to him. In the end, he pulled down the men who’d corrupted the magi, even though it cost him three of his men. Gregory was unbowed by his trials, becoming far wiser from them.

With his adept year done, he marched for Krogga— he was to be an assistant ambassador at the capital. What he was looking forward to wasn’t the position, though, but the fact that his wives would be there with him. Even better, it wasn’t going to only be his wives, but also three of his closest friends who wanted to marry him. Clover, Ling, and Roshana were waiting for their tea ceremony, the final step needed for them to be accepted into the family.

As if that wasn’t enough for Gregory to look forward to, Darkness, the mysterious and powerful woman who shrouded herself in her namesake, had promised she would be laid bare before them when they became magus tier. She would not only be visible to them, but they would even be able to briefly touch each other, too.

Krogga wouldn’t be an easy post— the warrior nation hated magi with a passion, which was why the Embassy posting wasn’t one most people wanted. Gregory and his wives were going to have to prove their strength if they wanted to have any peace during their five-year posting.

Want to witness your own assassination? I Noah guy

Proven Strength, Book🎱of the #AethersRevival series by @DJSchinhofen. If you haven't read any of these works I would highly recommend doing so. They are exceptional. The MC Gregory and his harem fight to overcome incredible odds and eventually liberate the enslaved🐏eurtiks.

Now, on their way to the Krogean empire they have to fight random groups of strangers who challenge our MC Greg at every turn. The numbers of fights are heavy-going and Greg doesn't want to overburden his men. As a law-maker he decrees that only five fights are allowed per day.

This allows Greg to develop a stronger relationship with the people of the Krogean empire and better assimilate with the culture. This also allowed @DJSchinhofen to focus on detailing 🏗️ societal structures and embellishing the lore of the world rather than incessant fighting.

Sometimes, both culture and combat collide as Greg fights for the right to marry his 3 new wives, scaling the treacherous hill. This story was quintessentially a modern 🇬🇧 British tale in that the amalgamation of cultures for the betterment of all was present in the literature.

This book was beautifully narrated as ever by the fantastic🌹@MouthyMaven. My only gripe was the work's bloopers reel, which was both hilarious and disappointing at the same time: it lacked the natural rhythmic cadence that I had so loved in the previous stories📚4/5⭐️#bookreview

Ramping Up.

Definitely Daniels best series so far. We see more of Gregs past starting to bleed through and the final chapter hints at an interesting next book. Krogga has been a blast but the book felt far too short.

More bloopers!

The story and performance were great as usual. The bloopers reel at the end was fantastic. I really hope we can get a full compilation of bloopers once the story is finished

Mixed

I have a love hate relationship with this authors work, this installment, was weighing my patience, the constant repetitive recounting and reaffirmations of how much the cast love each other, to everyones reaction to the MC having multiple wives and not being a bigot, to the obvious reveal of a certain friend, to its frankly just terrible token "antagonist" i find myself signing out of this series. Even for wishfulfillment, i find it being below mediocre.

Even with these grips, there are aspects in the series im still interested in, but thats more with whats going on with the empire than anything.

Andrea Parsneau is carrying this series so hard, otherwise i wouldnt even bother.
