About this listen

The ads enthused, "The virtual lands of Mirror World await you! Live out your most secret dreams in our world of Sword and Sorcery! Become a Great Wizard or a Famous Warrior! Build your own castle, tame a dragon, conquer a kingdom! All those desperate, lonely, and insecure - Mirror World offers you a chance!"

But Oleg isn't meant to become a great wizard or a famous warrior. He'll never have a castle of his own. Nor will he ever tame a dragon. And he's definitely not the type to conquer a kingdom, however virtual it may be.

Oleg is doomed to toil away in the recesses of Mirror World's mines. His goal is to raise enough money for a heart transplant for his dying six-year-old daughter. The clock is ticking. Will he make it?

Good book

If you can get past the first chapter, it's quite a good book. Will definitely be getting book 2

Excellent story

I liked this book a lot and have listened to it several times. The character idea story arc is good and world story is also good. There are a few inconsistencies, but these are few and far between and do not diminish the enjoyment of the story.

In the genre it is very good read/listen.

Average

An average story, some plot holes, and bad pacing. Kyle sounds too young for the protagonists age and experience.

Sure, not the worst

Good listen, but sometimes the soup gets stired a little too much. No big plot surprises, but in general an okay listen. One big slipup, that would have been easy to fix - what happened to everyone is a real person in the game?

Captivating story well thought out

After getting the first free book I was surprised how clever the story has developed. I'm just about to get the third book soon.

It's a Grind

There is a sad back story that has no feel to it, everything is unlogical, and never any reason to keep going, I almost made it through the book with the only reason being I was working while listening.

Worth listening

The story is ok, not as good as other books in the genre but overall entertaining enough to listen too.

Don't

OK, let me start off with if the author reads this I would like to say the positives first as I'm going to rant afterwards
1. love the back story with his heart break from each failed heart surgery
2. the loops and lengths he goes through to succeed
3. the fact he's an older guy who's down to earth, working guy and does not just jump on the first dump maybe successful thing kinda guy

I'm gonna add a TLDR because I saw it got pretty long

pretty much people pay a large sum of money for full immersion game that could put you in the hospital, and then just pay for an app to do their job and browse the net.

now for the rant
Author my guy, my dude.. what the hell?
For the longest time I've not been able to put my finger on why exactly this botherd me so much but I think I got it.
You've built a world so real people are leaving the old one behind fine I can see that, but to first say "there are no npcs, every person working a shop cleaning the street and so on will be people" the just introduction npcs anyway WTF, and then you automate the game for them?
Because if you can buy an app to mine for you what's to say there is not one for sweeping the street, fixing a broken door or doing some maid chores?
I could maybe see this game working with people being every store clerk, hairdressers or carpenter but they had to pay an insane price to join the game as I understood it. And sure they can work it of by playing but I'm sorry if me chopping a tree is buying a 5$ app that will do it for me so I can browse the Internet I'm sorry to say THATS NOT GONNA MAKE ME PLAY LONG, now if it was a little balanced with you get skill points faster from doing it yourself sure a little better.
But take it from a guy who has played cookie clicker for 4+ years I like idle games but if I pay out more than 50$ for a game and don't get my moneys worth I'm not gonna come back the fact I can make money be damned
I'm sure there are people who would do so but I don't think most people would witch would tip the scale in the game massively if there are no npcs to fix everything in a territory.

It would be a domino affect first larg chunk leaves and maybe nobody sees it, then their reputation falls because something was not done. Could have been some windows needed cleaning, maybe a door did not get fixed.
And then whatever territory will pay more for those so people will do them, so another territory will have to increase pay to keep them at his territory.
Then if another group leaves it gets more unbalanced.
Maybe by that point people are offering so much some are coming back but then there will be backlash "oh but now there are so many of you I don't need to pay as much" HAH fat chance of that territory owner you've offered a price and now people will work for that or they will leave again.
And then who's gonna complain? The rich the people this game seems to be aimed at and suddenly the game falls to pieces.

I just want to add as and after thought my last part with the domino thing might be a stretch but I do genuinely belive this game would not just fall flat on its face it would be laughed out of stores, the concept is ludicrous
