About this listen
Sean Hudson thought nothing of hopping a fence to dig illegally for Native American arrowheads, spear points, and other artifacts. Did his thieving, trespassing ways get him killed? How else to explain the small pickaxe that was found sunk deep into his skull? Blanco County game warden John Marlin has dealt with these kinds of looters before, so it's no surprise when the sheriff asks him to assist with the investigation. Marlin quickly learns that this case - like the soil at a dig site - has many layers.

As good as always
Cleverly written story with many layers based in Texas with wonderful narration from Johnny Peppers.
Sean Hudson thought nothing of digging (even if illegally) for Native American artifacts, but did his ill gotten gains really get him killed? How else to explain the pickaxe found deep into his skull?
With Sean's friends describing him as a loner, John Marlin struggles to find a reason why anyone would want Sean dead?
Meanwhile in Blanco County a mysterious meat seller with a disregard for private property is making enemies across the county when the inhabitants start becoming very sick, is the buffalo meat the only bad thing making its way round? The likable rogues red necks Billy Don and Red, try to get an apology and some compensation for eating the bad food but they get more then they bargained for.
I absolutely love this series, well worth a listen.

Point Taken
It really is incredible how so many things can be tied up to one main case. A murder leads to so much trouble on top of the obvious and watching it all unfold is so entertaining. This book is my favorite one so far in this series.

An incredibly amusing and enjoyable tale with lots of twists and turns to keep you engaged.
If you’ve listened to or read any books in this series then you’ll be familiar with the regular characters particularly Red and Billy Don who aren’t really good guys but not really the bad guys either, somehow they always end up in the thick of it deliberately or not, their antics and banter gives endless humour that all in makes this a highly enjoyable story.

The point of the matter
I enjoyed this book. This is book 10 in the series and by now you should know what to expect a windy twist take that with have you laughing out loud one moment and the rolling your eyes the next. The usual suspects all make an appearance which just adds to the adventure, especially finding out what Billy Don and Red are up to. The mystery was good and keeps you on your toes as it switches from character to character and feels like the police are investigating two case simultaneously. On to the next adventure.
When a body is discover it doesn't take game warden John Marlin long to figure out the the teenage boy had been trespassing on somebody's land hunting for Native American arrowheads. What got him killed trespassing or a falling out between thevies? At the same time an aggressive salesman is making house calls selling bad meat. One lady ends up in hospital and Billy Don isn't happy about it. Marlin isn't to happy with him after the man won't take no from his wife. With a Facebook page set up tracking the salesman movements one of them is bound to catch up with him eventually. Can Marlin also track down the killer of the young boy and keep his wife safe?I
With this book the author has gone back to the original narrator of the series and while I liked the narrator for the previous books I think Johnny Peppers does an excellent job and I will soon get use to him reading the rest of series.
