About this listen

Life in Alpha World has been a blessing for Alburet, more then he had ever thought it could be, and still more then he thinks he deserves at times. With allies and friends all around him, and the love of three beautiful, unique women, he knows that this might be the best life has to offer.

But all of life has complications, and his are many and varied. A quest from the Overlord requires he level as quickly as he can for the "End Game", or risk losing all the happiness he has found.

While that is difficult enough, more issues keep showing up. The open-ended contract by the Assassins’ Guild on any member of Alpha Company is testing the bonds of those who have joined. Add in the background movements of the Noble Houses to that list to make things even more annoying, but that is still not the end of the troubles. Not the least issue seems to be the machinations of the vague old evil that is stirring again, with its own plans.

With all these issues starting to bear down on Alburet and Alpha Company, he must fight to accomplish the goals needed to keep his loves, all while dealing with his own mental issues.

Welcome back to Alpha World.

Loved it

I have loved this entire series and how I feel about this book is how I feel about them all. I enjoyed the story. The characters were deep both inside and outside the game. The pacing was excellent and kept me hooked. At no point did I think oh come on get on with it. I liked the "Good" Characters. I hated the "Bad" characters. Just how it should be.
The Narration was also excellent, very clear and understandable.
Overall one of my favourite series of books alongside Terry Pratchett and anything narrated by Wil Wheaton.
As an avid gamer I can relate to the books very well.
If there is a follow up series it will be an immediate but for me.

Brilliant.

Schinhofen proves once again that he can wield an epic story while weaving an enthralling emotional journey. A brilliant book all around!

Ends before it begins

There is no story, it is just minor setup with a bit of character development on fluff. It felt very forced, and just when something might actually happen it finished. Very disappointing. It would be more disappointing but I've lost all investiture in the characters and series at this point thanks to the lackluster writing and unimaginative development. I have it a lot of patience because of the potential, and it was rewarded with garbage

Nothing much happening

Having waited for this book to come out I find myself disappointed about how little story it contains. So little story that at times I found myself wondering if the entire book was character stats being updated. Character leveling story is skipped repeatedly. The plot could really use some filling out.
